Hey EricF! How is your new turntable working out for you? I`m getting an unbelievable amount of fun from my turntable! I love how full it sounds(weather real or imagined). I`m enjoying the whole ritual of placing a record on the platter,starting it up,dropping the needle,the whole thing!It even makes a great conversation starter with my friends/co-workers/family. This is without a doubt one of the best pieces of equipment I`ve bought! Uh,by the way I own a Audio Technica at-120.

It seems I have ended up with not one, but TWO turntables. I bought the previously posted Pioneer PL-7 for myself, and my friend who re-introduced me to the vinyl world gave me an '80s Technics SL-QD33 for Christmas. One will live in our family room hooked up through my expanding vintagey stereo rig (Pioneer SX-780 receiver, Klipsch KG2.5 speakers), and the other will be out in my garage and run through my 16-channel Ramsa mixer and PA system.

I'm having a blast diving back into vinyl, and have a few records en route to me via eBay at the moment. Also, a local music shop still carries a small selection of new LPs, and I picked up The Black Keys "Rubber Factory" two days ago.

The places that sell LPs (new or used) have been slowly disappearing from the local area. We do have a couple of regular swap-meet/flea-markets that always have people selling vinyl. They're already in my sights in the next couple of weeks.

A family friend has offered to give me her collection of LPs that have been sitting unused for 20+ years. Knowing her, she's probably got some great stuff! :)

Lucky dog! I wish I had a second turntable. At some point I`d like to get another turntable(along with a receiver and speakers) for the bedroom. Unfortunately,it`s not always easy to call dibs on the living room when you have 2 young kids that want to watch Disney every chance they get or a woman who isn`t a fan of 90% of the music I enjoy. Lucky for me my girl does enjoy the Mars Volta so at least I can rock out to the live album I just bought!
I have to mention that it`s been about one month since I`ve gotten my turntable.....and I`m so bleeping happy with it! I`m really happy with my choice of hardware,I`ve had no problems with it thus far. And I`m really enjoying the whole ritual of playing music on vinyl. I`ve been having so much fun listening to records with my girlfriend and my buddies!

A few packages showed up in the mail today. These three were part of my original collection that was tossed out years ago...
- Eagles - Greatest Hits '71-'75 (needs some good cleaning, but doesn't look scratched)
- Beatles - '62-'66 (NM- condition)
- Beatles - '67-'70 (NM- condition)

Also, brand-new...
- Death Cab For Cutie - Plans (180g, double LP)

That`s pretty bleeping cool! You know even though when I tell my buddies or who ever that I`ve bought a turntable they always end up making a DJ scratching joke. But to be honest with you I tend to forget that many folks use turntables for this reason. And I`ve got to say that when you hear it done right(like you) it sounds so cool.
What kind of TT`s are you using? They kind of look like Audio-Technicas.
I came to post here for another reason though. Since I`ve become the owner of a turntable(at the start of December) I feel that I`m becoming almost addicted to buying vinyl. I`ve always been big on buying cds, even when I finally got online a few years back I ignored mp3`s.
I`m a collector at heart and digital files just don`t cut it lining a shelf to be admired.
And now it has crossed over to records. At first I was just choosing an album because i liked the band.
Now that I`ve opened up a paypal account though......It`s like every record I see on ebay is...the..ONE that I need to really set off my collection.

Good to see you have realized the real benefit of vinyl. Scratching with a turntable just doesn't cut it for me.

Be very careful when buying used vinyl on Ebay. I went down that road a few years ago. I bought many so called " mint condition" records...only to get them home and find marks and or noise.....even after a good scrubbing.

There are many outlets online now for buying NEW vinyl. Sealed is almost always better than used with a description of MINT CONDITION from the seller.

+1. Unless it's still sealed, it's not "mint".

I'm also finding that people's description of "near mint" can vary a LOT. I'm not against eBay buying, but I understand the gamble involved.
