Viola Bass

Went to GC today during my break at work and sat down with an Ephiphone Viola Bass...and one of the hardest things I've ever had to do was put it back on the wall (can't afford it right now). I'm sure I'll go back for it in a few weeks, unless I can get my hands on a Hofner Icon Series and see how that one feels.

Sorry, but when you guys say "Viola" are you referring to a particular brand? Epi? Johnson? BTW anyone familiar with the Johnson JJ-200? How are the PUPs, Sound? Construction?

It's a style made by many, many brands.

I don't own either, so what I say may not count for much. But I've tried both the Hofner Icon and the Epiphone Viola many times and in my very humble opinion I much prefered the Epiphone. Just felt like it was much more of a solid build. Felt much more sturdy.

But of course the most expert opinion is from those who own one or the other. Or both!

The Hofner Icon I had was nothing more than firewood with four strings. I hear they've improved in the last year or so.

IMO.... I your gonna play a Viola Bass , It has to say Hofner on the headstock.
