Count me in too, I have been here on TB and in VA since 2001...just been kinda quiet last few years but am trying to get back into the water.

I am in Colonial Hieghts (Richmond area).

I live in MD, but my work office is in Reston Town Center, my bandmates all live in VA, and most of our gigs have been in VA.

Just moved into a 2-bedroom apartment, and I have exactly:

(1) computer desk
(1) bed
(2) cheapo bookshelves

So I'm a little short on places to put my backside. I'm also short on cash, so if you're looking to make money I can't help ya.

Don't want any particle-board stuff, and I don't mind refinishing if necessary.

Hey...why should your stuff be any better than mine?!? A trip to IKEA / Woodbridge is in order. Like any well-prepared bassist, you probably have the necessary hex keys to put the stuff together.

No, seriously. I've had enough particle board in my life to create a particle-board Titanic. It wouldn't float, though - that stuff gets wet and eats itself!

I'm just tired of the cheap veneer rubbing off (like my desk) or the shelves sagging (like my bookshelves), and want sturdier stuff that won't fall apart in a year or two.

:EDIT: Oh yeah, I also don't have hex keys, except for the ones I need for my 'Wicks. All of my tools are currently being stowed in a friend's garage.

Okay, be at my house Tuesday morning at 5 AM...we'll go curb shopping. Has to be that early so we can stay 30 minutes ahead of the waste management (garbage) truck. Don't laugh...I picked up a 27" Toshiba color TV a couple weeks back. Do you need a TV as I now have a spare?

Here's another idea even stupider than the first: the GTG admission will be $25 and a gently used piece of furniture...kind of like a "Toys for Tots" vibe only without the Marines. What's even scarier is that these VA-based TBer's will actually do it. You'll probably end up with 37 end tables...and my TV.

I'm already booked for curb- and thrift-store shopping with my singer up in Newport News in the next few days - she knows all the really great spots.

I want a TV for the bedroom, but I'm gonna hold out till I find a good deal on a flat screen so I can mount it to the wall. Thanks though Riis!

Hey VA bassists...hello from Winchester!

Anybody know of a reputable shop or tech that you would trust to service and possibly retube an old SVT? I'm located in Winchester, VA but travel to DC frequently so anything within an hour drive would be great.
