Probably not the best site to post this on, but it's one of the only musical sites I'm a member of and wanted to see what you guys thought as I'm sure there's plenty of you guys who play and sing at the same time. I got a shure58 this Christmas and have been wanting to learn how to yell/scream for awhile. Not necessarily the brutal death metal scream, more of like a Gerard Way type yell.
Heres three examples:
<--- till the end of the take and you'll get the idea.
<-- here to 13:37 is another example.
And for those who that's a little too rough, even something milder like this would be cool.
< -- and here to like 2:50 is the take I'm talking about.
Easiest way to explain it is I'm interested in learning how to be singing a note like that, then throw a raspy gain and yell into it properly towards the end of the take. Would love to hear what you guys got as suggestions or ideas. Open to tutorial vids or online vocal training classes. Tried to get one of my friends who had 8 years college choir try to help but he thought it was the dumbest idea ever. I guess it is kinda breaking choir boy rules to distort your voice though
