Voltage "doubler" cables, but are there voltage "splitter" cables???

I ran into this with my Truetone CS12 and ended up running the 18V output into a Dunlop Power Brick. I only used 3 of the 9V outputs so I can't say it will run as many as it would with its own wall wart. Depends on the current draw DC BRICK POWER SUPPLY

Indeed! The V189 is *exactly* what I am looking for--at least for the 18V port. THANKS!

Of course, if what you guys are saying about these kinds of parts is true, then I think it is HIGHLY likely that the V189 cable could be used on a 12V port and still put out 9V as well (unless 1SPOT specifically crippled the part?). But perhaps 1SPOT doesn't advertise that simply because they don't have a power supply that has a 12V port???

Anyway, I have send them an email asking just that. I will post back here if I get a reply.

You must be looking on a mobile phone. On a computer it displays a full page of several adapters. The single to double splitter the OP mentioned is also available, part #MC2. So, if you wanted to split an 18v to two 9v then you would need a V189 and a MC2.

I think he is simply referring to the fact that the "voltage doubler" cable is listed first on the page, so it looks like you were referring to that--heck, I thought the same thing.

My OP was really about "splitting" the voltage to create 2 9V ports, but you are absolutely right! In the end, using the MC2 after the V189 accomplishes the exact same thing. Thanks!

Alright, but the module is already pretty big. A box adds even more bulk (and cost). And all this still has to fit (and be securable) under my dang pedalboard!

NOTE: I also edited my post above to a link with a smaller module with no LED. Since I would have to calibrate it anyway, I am thinking the LED is unnecessarily cumbersome for my application?

Yup! This one is better for you IMO. Fewer bells and whistles but handles more current (3 amps vs 2).

Couldn't say. Can't find detailed specs for it anywhere. My guess is it WILL work with a 12 v supply but the current rating will drop. Not knowing what the current rating is with 18 v going in it's impossible to say if it would still be adequate at 12 v.

You could simply daisy-chain two pedals off one 9V supply.

Ok, I believe you, but I had to ask because if voltage is so easily "doubled" with a simple y-cable, as is evidenced by the voltage-doubler cables available from Voodoo, it seemed like it should be able to split the same way. Guess not.

That voltage doubler cable is probably not simple either. The circuit that doubles the voltage is likely encapsulated into the plastic housing of the larger connector. I'll guess that it is a charge pump, and the reason it uses two inputs is not to double the voltage, but to get more milliamps than otherwise.

As promised! I just barely recieved a response from TrueTone/1SPOT, but it is a helluva good response! Here it is:

The V189 adapter can take any voltage from about 11V to 18V and drop it down to 9V. I don’t recommend going higher than 18V on the input. It could get too hot and shut down. But, 12V on the input should work great.

So it looks like the V189 adapter cable can be used on both 12V and 18V ports, making them usable for a 9V pedal!

Frankly, I wish the cable wasn't quite so pricey, I could literally just buy another power supply for the cost of a couple of these cables, but it's nice to have the option I guess...
