I came up with Maps As Slacks. or Slats. Maps as Poems is a mixed feel of 2 unbalanced nouns, Maps is snappy and Poem is egg like, Poems needs to be mixed with, like, "Unfortunate Poems", something more neutral but descriptive and stupid (because poems are pretentious if they aren't truly great.) "Maps" is a great song by that cool trio...
so maybe the unbalanced feel makes it more quirky? I still would say that "Poems" is more repelling than attracting to a majority of people. Hard work to read. "Maps as Flags", that is happier.

I like HeroJiro as the name for a band.

I think Maps as Poems would make a good title for your first album.

(Interesting phrase. I remember reading about some (UK?) university sponsored social history initiative some time back where there was a discussion about how maps could be used as a form of poetry.)

I agree with this ^^

Although I think you should go ahead and pronounce it "hero jeero." Why be obscure about the pronunciation? In fact I think I prefer the spelling HiroJiro.

My opinion, which is worth exactly what you paid for it...

Hard work to read? Hopefully your target crowd isn't that dumb.

Maps as Poems has a deeper moody ring to it ... makes you think for a second, (if that's what is meant by hard work) & if it suits the music, I'd proceed with it. I think ours does the same, but I have to speak it slowly when I say it, because all 3 of the words can be homonyms.

Maps as Glasses. that may be my last attempt, and yes all but the genius poem is hard work. I'm from a book reading generation and it's advanced education that causes my suggestions. Maps as Poems is trying too hard to seem deepmoody oh so literate, that makes it less quality, but it would make a great children's book concept! These days it's probably not a problem since intentionally bad band names are in favor. You should video yourself and various people speaking your band name S L OW L Y eee. Just so it's on the record.
