I came up with Maps As Slacks. or Slats. Maps as Poems is a mixed feel of 2 unbalanced nouns, Maps is snappy and Poem is egg like, Poems needs to be mixed with, like, "Unfortunate Poems", something more neutral but descriptive and stupid (because poems are pretentious if they aren't truly great.) "Maps" is a great song by that cool trio...
so maybe the unbalanced feel makes it more quirky? I still would say that "Poems" is more repelling than attracting to a majority of people. Hard work to read. "Maps as Flags", that is happier.

Yeah, it's hard work to learn how to read, as anything with more than 1 node is hard to hear, and potentially simply confuse the listener.

So I would go for a one letter name like "I" for example and just play one node all through each of the songs, that way you'll avoid sounding pretentious in any way, and insure that no one will find your music repelling.

You know there are such thing as too many nodes.

One can only hear so many nodes in piece before it simply becomes pretentious.

I don't like either of them.
First one sounds contrived to sound esoteric.
Second one sounds like a Japanese Anima title.

First thing I thought of is like a little Japanese girl backed by ultra trendy indie rock music. Anime title though, Hilarious!

Maps as Poems is actually kind of cool. Consider my vote changed. (Unless op is actually part of a Japanese indie rock group)

Thanks for your input, everyone! I just used this in a band meeting to see if there was a name that was vastly preferred. Looks like it was split down the middle!

We decided to go with HeroJiro!

The backgrounds, for those that asked:

Maps as poems: Comes from a Feist song. Our guitarist interpreted it as the experiences and relationships she has had in different places and feeling melancholy about it. (Also, the acronym is M.A.P. Oooo! My personal vote was for this one, but I like our choice as well)

HeroJiro: comes from the movie "Jiro Dreams of Sushi", and references the drive to spend your life perfecting your craft. (In his case, sushi). For those who said this name makes you think of Hiro from Heroes - that's what I said! :roflmao:

And we are a New-wave / Post-punk band.
We are getting three of our songs mastered now, I'll be sure to share when we get them back if you're interested. :bassist:
