I'm not crazy about either name, but if I had to pick one it would be Maps as Poems. HeroJiro has way too many issues attached.

"What's the name of your band?" "Hero Hero." Will never be found the internet. Or...

I love you're band, Hero Jeero, YEAH! No... it's Hero Hero. Or....

"Thank you everybody for coming out tonight! We're Hero Hero! That's H-E-R-O-J-I-R-O!"

Or about 20 other things I could come up with.

I think it's important for bands to be easily found on the internet, and circulated. Would suck bad if people loved you guys and they told their friends to check out Hero Hero, but you could never be found. Or vice versa. In 2016 you have approximately 10 seconds to get people's interest. Probably less. If they're wrestling with your band name, you're forgotten instantly.

I feel bad for Yes, and Live. Both have faded into oblivion, and while I don't blame it completely on the internet I have a sneaky suspicion their "searchability" had some effect on their popularity.

Maps as Poems does nothing for me, but you'd be easy to find if I liked you. And easier to remember.

HeroJiro...but remember the Oneders? You're setting yourself up for a lot of
mispronunciation by everyone but the band.
I see the future of HeroJiro like this:
After a fast but brief measure of success you'll get your big tv break with an appearance on Conan Obrien. Then your BL/songwriter will succumb to inflated ego, dump his girlfriend, who the drummer has a crush on, and quit the band in a heated exchange back stage.
You, the bassist, will end up joining the Marines. And only your drummer will go on to a successful career after making the shift to jazz.

Yes, better rethink the spelling. Besides, HiroJiro sounds like a Ben and Jerry's flavor.

Heros of the New Millennium
now that's money in the bank

I voted HeroJiro but I agree with what's been said, I would change the spelling to match the pronunciation - Herohero or HeroHiro or something. Otherwise you should call yourselves the Oneders.

The O-NEEE-DERS - :roflmao:

As these quotes and other posts suggest, the non-obvious pronunciation will do you in. If just these two choices, Maps as Poems wins. If I saw an add for HeroJiro playing, I might expect the gig to be a Spyro Gyra tribute band.

Names with misspellings seem to stand up a bit better than trick pronunciation. See: Led Zeppelin, Def Leppard, and others. :)
