    Hello friends!

I'm in a new project and we're at the point of picking names! Wondering which of these you like better, without the background info.

I'll let you know what we pick!

Definitely the latter. The first is quite obviously a very obscure reference or an inside joke. As a stand alone it is just.... odd.

As a geologist, maps are beautiful to me...kind of like poems. I also like the abstractness (is that a word?).

The second one makes me think of a Japanese hero.

"HeroJiro" is good, but everyone is going to pronounce it like it's spelled and you'll always be explaining how it's pronounced, just like you did in the poll.

I like "Maps as poems", sounds like it could be meaningful, or something simple. People will say, "let's go see Maps tonight!" and not use the whole name unless they want to.

Maps as poems doesn't roll off the tongue too easy.

HeroJiro makes me think of sandwiches, of which two names are represented..

Just my O. :) Good luck with the name.

I like HeroJiro as the name for a band.

I think Maps as Poems would make a good title for your first album.

(Interesting phrase. I remember reading about some (UK?) university sponsored social history initiative some time back where there was a discussion about how maps could be used as a form of poetry.)

I voted for Maps As Poems. HeroJiro seems too complicated and it's like Gyro/yeero. Just sounds like lunch.

Op, which was your suggestion, and which was another bandmates'band mate's suggestion?

I voted HeroJiro but I agree with what's been said, I would change the spelling to match the pronunciation - Herohero or HeroHiro or something. Otherwise you should call yourselves the Oneders.

Maps as Poems sounds a little too precious and a shade pretentious. What about just "Maps," is that taken?

Maps as Poems, but only if it is written in that heavy metal writing that no-one can read. It will then be a dual conversation piece.

Maps as Poems works for an indie band quite well. I can't say I like Herojiro much at all.
