VOX amPLUG 2

Any thoughts on this for having something inexpensive that my kids could get me for the holidays on their limited budget to noodle around with while not disturbing others? Other reasonable options that will allow me to play w phones and allow for 1/8" input of a music source? I'm looking to keep in the vicinity of this price point. Thanks!

Good practice tool with the potential to declutter all the mess of amps; pedals and cables around a guitar regularly played at home.

When paired with a (no-latency) portable speaker (I am using a Creative Sound Blaster Roar 2 (33Watts RMS)), it can be used to accompany acoustic instruments around the fireplace. This is a nice outcome but its success will depend of how clear the bass response of the speaker is.

There is a noticeable white noise; blatantly noticeable when the tone knob is high. I tend to keep this knob as low as possible.

There are three gain settings that provide something akin to the warmth; compression and saturation inherent to a valve amp. Nonetheless, all of 'em target a clean tone.

The flexibility of the control over the rhythm section is surprising given such a small device. You should read the manual in order to properly enjoy it.
