VOX T-100 Cabinet

This is me in 1965 with my T60. The band went all Vox thinking if the Beatles used it, it must be good.

i just received an early T-60 style cab w/trolley yesterday. It has a 12" and a 15" in it, like McCartney's first one in 1963. For now, i put an Eminence 2512 for the 12" and a JBL K130 in it for the 15" and IMO, it sounds awesome. I'm probably going to install a FaitalPro 15PR400 for the JBL after it arrives early next week just to compare it to the JBL.
here's a quick pic of the cab:

Great to run into some Vox talkers. I have always been a Beatles/McCartney fan. I began drawing pictures of Vox amps when I was seven years old! Learned to play electric bass from copying the records.
My most fun G.A.S. moments were acquiring a fine sounding 1966 Westy in '72, long gone; then an absolutely rocking '65 A.C. 50 in '77, partnered with an Essex 2x12 cab. That was as close as I got to McCartney's rig. I sold it fall '22. My best and longest Vox bass rig experience was with a second A.C.50 with an '81 V115 cab loaded with a Celstion Powercel, a much better sounding unit than the original Fane. It was a fantastic rig and it was the "go to" from '81 - '91, when I sold it.
A '65 silver face Cambridge fills the Vox space now. That thing is a hale of nails!

During one of my business trips to the UK in the mid 90's I took a day to visit Rick Harrison at Music Ground in Doncaster. Up on the 3rd floor was most of the Vox gear. I noticed that they had 2 Vox T-100 cabinets available for sale. Never having seen one (or two) in person I took the picture below of them as a keep sake. I was surprised at how small they were.

Saw you were going to build a copy of the T100. Did you ever build it? Can you tell me what the actual angle on the baffle/grill frame is! Thanks!

John

Hey John.

I built the first, without the angled baffle (which I believe is 15*) I started another with a "fixed" angled baffle, but never finished it. Unfortunately time and tide got away from me.

Here's what the first version looks like:

The back is not removable, which helps the sound considerably! It sounds nearly identicle to the small Fender Showman 215 cab, with the same speakers (Eminence KappaLites, in this case).

I've been considering reworking the sides to fit the trolley, and adding the Vox brown grill... I have the Vox trolley, and grill cloth (both from Northcoast), but still haven't done anything about it... Too many irons in the fire...

This cab sounds great with guitar too, BTW!!!
