VT Bass Deluxe DI Lacking Low End?

I use the VT Bass Deluxe on my pedalboard for various stages of dirt in my sound. My most recent cover band band doesn't use cabs but runs everything through their PA so I left my cab at home and ran straight off my VT Bass Deluxe and I found that my tone was lacking in low end through the PA and featured a ton of highs.

I got to thinking about this and realized that I programmed my settings while plugged into the front of my bass amp (Rumble 500) which colored my tone, so my sound that I dialed in requires both the VT Bass and my amp to sound like I'm used to.

So for this project I think I will need to bring my amp unless I want to re calibrate my VT Bass with the DI rather than through my amp.

There's plenty of low end in the VT. It'll be the PA. I don't much about PA's and how to run them, but the engineer might taken the Kick as priority for the part of the low end, or might have EQ'ed the Kick and Bass to work together efficiently somehow. I'm just speculating really.

One simple question: did you turn the cab sim button on? If you're using it direct, it sounds better with it on.

I find that with any simulation pedal that feeds a DI to the FOH, it’s a wise decision to set the tone of the pedal using the FOH PA. Setting the pedal up using your amp and cab gives the FOH DI signal a bass shy signal to start with. Relatively any PA will work but preferably one that you will be using for most every gig is better. Also try using headphones to set your tone by playing along with backing tracks from YouTube. That will get you much closer than playing the pedal through your amp and setting it.

Agree. Also why I personally went with a more FRFR cab. Otherwise it can be a big pain (frequently impossible) trying to balance tones for both cab and FOH use.

Thanks to using a Fearless I'm able to use pretty much the same tone with my cab, for FOH, and also for recording.
