VT Bass - Still on your board?

Never liked it - couldn't dial out that horrible clank and still get a useable tone. Using a Joyo British these days and that covers a surprising range of tones and varying amounts of gain.

I’ve been looking at various options, came across a chinese sansamp clone for $45 that actually sounds pretty decent.
I know not to expect all the features or high end quality, but as just a pedalboard add for a tube sound,this is looking pretty good to me.

Hmm… for ultra low budget I think you might enjoy something in the Nux or Joyo world a little more than that.

I fiddled with the Wine Cellar a bit myself. I remember the EQ being pretty unnatural sounding.

Or… if all you want is some tube-ish warmth, you could try a basic dirt pedal that does low gain. Setting 2 on the Blumes could get you there. Or even a Mojo Mojo might work. Both have good sounding drive circuits.

Well, i have a wine cellar on its way.
Seems to be a lot of positive reviews and comments about it, so For $50, (refundable), I’m gonna give it a whirl.
I don’t expect it to be the perfect replacement for my VT DI, but hope it gives me a little tubey grit.

Forgot to mention my pedalboard already includes a couple of distorto/fuzz/“drive” circuits with the tech 21 fuzz and ART Phatboy pedals. They are fun for occasional use, but what I’m really missing is the tube emulator, which I pretty much kept in the “fliptop” or tube compression “ lighter settings. The sound I try to get is Duck Dunn,Motown,etc.
