They have good prices and excellent shipping rates ($15).
I just checked Tonefactor and it appears that they don't do international shipping on Tech 21 products. Can't say I have had that problem before, but there you go...

having been all over new zealand and visited a handful of music shops, it appalls me to see what you all in nz and australia pay for american gear. even the "american" gear made in china has appalling price tags. what causes that? shipping costs? ridiculous taxation? paying for the royal family's dental work and ear pinning surgery?
Primarily it comes down to the ear pinning surgery costs, but there is also the factor of lower population, less consumption I guess?
Also depends on the market. Some stuff is cheaper here than in other countries, but unfortunately music gear isn't one of those things
I have bought 90% of my gear from the US including my SVT, most basses and effects. Only thing I buy locally is cabs. At least we generally get away without paying taxes unlike some of the poor European guys!
With the abundance of places in the States happily shipping to Australia, I can't see how the Aussie dealers sell anything! Warranty issues don't concern me either because if a problem did arise, I can generally pay to fix it and still be a mile in front!

Oligopoly. There are two music chains that have killed all the "mom & pop" stores that used to be around because two big players got exclusive distribution rights. You find that guitars tend to be pretty spot on with price once you factor in shipping and our goods and services tax, but effects...for example, one of the stores is trying to charge a ridiculous amount for a way huge swollen pickle (just a dunlop)...it costs (wait for it) US$360. A VT Bass costs US$250.
So now you know why we're so gutted when someone says they won't ship internationally
