VT + Power amp bass rig

I believe I am. Just a thought, any good reason to send that 1/4" inst cable from pedal board to Neopak effects send to bypass the Neopaks' pre-amp?

that was my thought(s) in my original post above. First, would having 3-4 "pre" items in a row or rather just in the chain, cause any issues. Second, not that I don't care for the tone of my Neopak. Just wondering if it would make for clearer/cleaner or just better sonic sense to not have 3 or more pres' as I do sometimes in this setup.

You can never have too many pre's 
As much as I like both my pre's on their own, together they sound great and add even more options for me. If I don't use it on it's own, I usually put the VT before the Schroeder Pre, but have also used it after. This way I've got 3 great options depending on where, what, and how I'm gigging. And if my Carvin B2000 ever gets here, I'll have to figure out what is staying and what is going.

jfscott, been trying it all week at home-alone practice sessions, just living room volume. Will be trying it tonite at live-gig volume. Also, have a EBS Multicomp in the chain, tho that pedal' giving me some hiss, it also gives a nice tone when slapin/thumpin the P5. I'll see how loud that hiss gets tonite.

Itll cost 600 CAD to my door, which makes me think i could also just put the money towards an amp thats not a preamp-poweramp, like an SVT or something.
SVT is a bit heavier than i want, but just for consideration, how much different would an SVT be from a VTbass-DCMLpoweramp rig?

so, this is the rack mod i've heard mentioned in other threads! that's a great professional looking job on the rackmount enclosure for sure...
ya, and the dude can add di, phantom power, mutable tuner out, pretty much the kitchen sink. might have him add a mutable tuner out on my vt deluxe when i get it. i guess i ought to wait for the warranty to expire first, but i probably won't.
My last minute doubt brought me to a last minute craigslist post searching for a V4B, and within 10 minutes some guy replied with one, and im buying it tomorrow!

great choice! v4b rules hard. vt cops the tones extremely well, but there's a reason i still lug tube amps even though i have a vt.
Works beautifully with the Carvin DCM2000L. More than powerful enough to drive the amp, and pretty much noise free. The VT is more versatile as a preamp in a live setting than you would think.
Did you rackmount your VT pedal?

Putnam Guitars performed the mod, and they have a few different options available if you check out their mod page. Great to work with. The DI, phantom and other mods are very useful, and the rack mod is more of a preference thing as I like to rack my gear rather than having pedals. Although I seem to have too many amp/ preamp options now, so I might be selling this one off.

Ok, I was in a pinch so I tried this at rehearsal the other night and it worked quite well. I think I'll still be using a head but it's good to know I've got a viable alternative if I find myself in a jam.
