I depends on what sound you want. Some peopel perfer using a guitar wah with bass. Or you can get the Ibanez weeping demone which has a 'Low' and 'High' setting so you can use it with bass or guitar. I actually perfer using it set to high though (but I really only use when I'm feeding a fuzzed out signal to it, ala Burton)

I've never been able to use my guitarists wah. It kills the low frequencies when turned on and makes it sound like I'm running my bass through an AM radio, and then into the wah.

The wah works, and it sounds cool, but you don't get the booty-shaking bass. :p

Try it though, you can't damage it.

Yep, they're called bass wahs.

And Bongo, it's not in the sticky yet. I'm working on it when I get some time.

They're made by many a people, the two most common being Morley and Dunlop. I suggest you take a gander down at Guitar Center or Sam Ash (they'll usually have the Dunlop, and sometimes the Morley Dual Bass Wah) and see what you like and if it works for you. I prefer an older model by Morley that's been out of production for a few years and feel it's much better than the current model, however, your mileage may vary. I know many who prefer the new model.

The long and short, there are plenty of wahs out there specifically for bass. These are the most common:
Morley Dual Bass Wah
Jim Dunlop Bass Crybaby
MSD Earth Quake Revolution

And others make wahs that are "bass compatible" including:
George Dennis Pedals
Boss PW-10 V-Wah

i never really found a use for a wah while playing with a band (unless you solo) but i plugged into my freinds vox wah pedal and i liked the results. i got kind of a weird flange kinda of tone out of it. the ibanez weeping demon is nice also i like how the pedal is 'spring loaded' i guess you would say. it is alawys pushed all the way back untill you push it down.

Most don't work well on bass... they drop out the low end.

But... there are exceptions. tplyons listed a few.

I'll add a few of my favorites:

- Morley Power Wah Boost (the old 70's one)
- Morley Power Wah (the new reissue)

The reissue is my wah pedal of choice! Its range and behavior is much different than you'd expect, though. Most bass wahs have a low-pass filter to retain the bass; the Power Wah does not.

The reason is because it has a very broad frequency sweep range, and with the boost dial tweaked to your tastes, it can retain plenty of bass. When you move the pedal, it crosses though everything, so it's definitely non-traditional.

I'd give a try to pedals like the Morley Dual Bass Wah and the Dunlop Bass Crybaby 105Q to find whether you prefer wahs with a low pass filter.

There's a lever on the side incase you wanna turn the springage off though.

You guys forgot an old vintage Wah that was just re-issued and let me tell you it is a BEAST! I have one....although they are very expensive...:crying:

It is the Foxx fuzz wah. It is a volume, fuzz, wah all in one pedal. Highly versatile. 4 wah settings, tons of fuzz. When you have the fuzz and the wah on..WATCH OUT! :eek:
