My deposit has been made on a Mk 2 so, in about 17 months (or more) I will be joining the club. I’ve had such a rough holiday season, I think I deserve it. Last time I was in a position to try and order one was when Pete passed away. Everyone I spoke to at the time made it sound like Wal basses were finished. I had just opened up a small recording studio and was going to buy a Wal for the “studio” bass. The honest truth is I wouldn’t have let any client touch it. I’m beyond happy they are still going. I already own my dream guitar now I get my dream bass.

Sounds like someone gave you some wrong info before. Paul had taken over the company and was back is action for over two years before Pete died.
Anyway, congrats on the new order. Dublin CA, love it there. I visit my cousin every year there in the summer (went twice his year).

This is true. Sadly in 5 days it will be already 2 years since the passing of Pete. I had the privilege of speaking to him a couple of times before he got too sick. Very nice man. Im sure he is looking down and being VERY proud of what Paul is doing.

Hey all,

I recently recorded a few songs with my band using my 84 Wal MKI, wenge facings. RW board. :)

This is straight into the board with a Verellen Meatsmoke preamp.

We liked the sound so much we didn't even reamp it through my 400+


Also,

How is Paul for parts? I am in need to a new insert for the E string. Mike Lull just did a full setup and it's great, but the adjustment screw closes to the bass side gradually screws itself in. Not a huge deal but for longer sets can get annoying and cause issues.

If all it's doing is screwing itself in, I would pull out the height screws and put a tiny dab of elmers school glue or clear nail polish on the threads and run them back in to work as a thread locker (you know like Loctite, just don't use Loctite). It'll stay tight and you can sill adjust when needed.
