Just to clarify, I'm not an expert but I wanted to add that there's no "all open" setting on the Wal filters. The tone settings aren't either full on or off, there are tonal differences all the way from 1 to 10 and anywhere in between.

I don't even own an amp at this time. I do all of my playing right into my pro tools rig! I have the Ampeg SVX and gallien krueger amp sims, and I use both on my final mixes.
Actually, I do have an old tiny peavey gorilla practice amp, but rarely ever use it and when I do it's usually just the headphone out.
Edit: I think I remember one guy way earlier in the thread posting a demo he did that was a DI straight into his computer. That was the track that even got me thinking about this whole thing in the first place.
I recorded a clip for you but I seem to be having trouble posting it. It's a WAV file and when I go to upload it into my reply it just has the loading bars in the upper righthand corner of the screen as if its loading but it never comes up. Any ideas?

Yes , all my Wals are loaded with Stainless Stell 045 100 Elixirs so :
Black MKI , Ebony FB= Most brighter sound and more "Twang" of all
Pro II = Super Vintage tone, Low Mids and no bright
MKII Walnut = Mix between the previous PRO II and Black MKI
MKII Birdseye, Ebony FB Trans Red, Lee bass, Ebony FB = Very dirty and a lot of Bass / Treble. Less mids
MKII Flamed, Rosewood FB = Very Bright, Very low and a lot of mids
MKIII Zebra , Ebony FB= Mellow tone, too light weight bass
MKIII 5 Walnut , Rosewood = Bright, not so much lows

I would recommend the program Reaper to anybody for recording. It's only 50$ and its awesome. Sure it is not protools but for 50 bucks you can't beat it. I use it for all my videos on youtube. You can also use it for free for 30 days to see if you like it before you buy it. Killer value for home recording on a budget.

Its basically a free service that allows you, or another person(s) to upload files to the same "storage folder" (also allows you to download, what is dropped in shared folder)
You can set it up so you receive an email saying "someone shared a file with you in DropBox"
Its pretty easy to use and convenient
You send/upload to site and whomever you give link to or if you have already added them can download to their computer
