I guess the five-string MKII you're talking about was the one that Newsted played in the "One" music video, eh?

Which has always brought me to another thought about Geddy's Wals. No one has ever seen Geddy's 5 string or what it looks like. Jason Newstead is a massive Geddy Fan and in the 80's supposedly went and bought the same kind of Wals Geddy had; so he also owns an all black MkI, and a black and natural MkI, and a 5. So with (fanatical) Jason's MkII 5 string being black and natural, might that give a hint that Geddy's 5 string is also black and natural? Hmmmm....

The one above looks like it has a mahogany core. The one in my link looks like it's a solid body. Mine is the typical 3-piece ash. The one time I spoke to Pete he thought he'd made about 3 this way right around when they were getting to produce the MkI.

Hi, just to put you straight, it was a solid ash body and wired in stereo - therefore passive (there wasn't room for 2 sets of electronics!) When I left Steve I had another body fitted with most of the hardware and active circuitry put in - it was wonderful! Dik C

Indeed! Definitely a huge understatement.

These were my first 3 Wals a little less than 3 years ago....at the time i thought this was it and happy with what i got!!

2 of the ones pictured has left the stable (one currently owned by a fellow Wal TB member) and the Pro is in good hands in KC, which i'm keeping tabs on.........


It has then evolved to an addiction/obsession/hoarding/whatever, call it what you will... :smug:
