Indeed! Definitely a huge understatement.

These were my first 3 Wals a little less than 3 years ago....at the time i thought this was it and happy with what i got!!

2 of the ones pictured has left the stable (one currently owned by a fellow Wal TB member) and the Pro is in good hands in KC, which i'm keeping tabs on.........

It has then evolved to an addiction/obsession/hoarding/whatever, call it what you will... :smug:

and here it is presently (with my WL4 Sadowsky)

Beautiful collection!

If you're ever looking to get rid of one of your fretted basses with a mahogany core, please don't hesitate to hit me up.

Just saying! Lol

And once again the list. If there are any early number folks still around and can remember their number, let me know because when Oddio passed away the original list went with him.

Jim,

You have any idea of why your import taxes/duties were so high on you Mk1? I'm guessing I'll keep $500 set aside just in case they hit me with something like that.

Well, it was customs and brokerage fee. So I don't know how much was customs and how much was "brokerage". I guess I should probably ask. I never did question it. If I had to do it again, I'd fly to London.

Well from what I've just been reading, it appears the brokerage fees UPS charges are ridiculous. I won't be able to go to the UK in May so I guess I will be putting more money aside. That's almost a grand to have it shipped altogether.

You can avoid paying brokerage fees by asking the seller to indicate "clear own" on the shipping slip. You can also phone UPS once you have a tracking number and tell them that you'll be clearing the packing through customs yourself and won't need a brokerage agent.

UPS drives me crazy with their brokerage fees, it's really obscene, imagine I went to your house, mowed your lawn then insisted that you owed me $100 for having done it. They go one step further though and withhold your package until their fees are paid, so maddening. They have no right to charge your for a service that you didn't request.

Another Wal 6...A dream come true after 13 years of longing and wanting. I really don't think I will ever let her go. You know you have something special when you don't want to put her away. One of the most elegant sounding basses I have ever heard. Definitely starting to understand why people have said it has one of the best on board preamps on the planet.
