Thanks for the Wenge comments...

I sent Paul the photos of the bass in order to get his opinion... that Wenge lefty is one of the most "used" Wals
that I have seen and appears to need a new finish and if a color is out of the question, then a strip and a clear refinish should be possible.

Problem is, that it has been nearly a week and I have heard nothing... is that typical?

A friend of mine has this 5-string unlined fretless Mk2. It's a '94, serial number W3840. English walnut facings, mahogany core, Indian ebony fingerboard.

He wants to trade it for a 4-string fretless. Anyone interested? He doesn't want to sell, just trade for a nice 4-string fretless (he declined an offer for a Pro Series).

If this belongs in the classifieds, please let me know and I'll remove this post.

I have a hipshot D-tuner on my Mk3. No modification was necessary. It dropped right in and I used same existing pilot hole to screw it dow. "Easy peasy lemon squeezie" my daughter would say!

Good to hear! My band members gave me a $50 gift certificate for GC and I figured the Dtuner would really be my only "need" at this point. This will allow me to use the Wal more often and not have to bring 3 basses to practices and shows. Good times!!!

Well, the tuner will be a drop in as long as the Mk3 already has Hipshots like most of them do. But some early Mk3's have Schaller tuners, not sure if the pilot hole lines up in that case.

Does anyone else seem to have to use tapered B and E strings on their Mk3? Untapered strings aren't properly sitting on the bridge on mine. I haven't read anyone discussing this here. Mine can't be the only one, can it?

It's been discussed a couple times. Usually the trick is to pinch it a bit with pliers to fit through the bridge.

Yup, even with a .105 I typically have to pinch the string down to fit the slot. Use the smooth area of the jaws.
