black one is 2013. I bought it one Year ago in Germany. signed by Paul. second one arrive today from UK. 1987. one Year before Ian died.
I own a Wal he signed off in the month he died. I think I never sell it.

Nice!!! Ya talking to Paul regarding solid body slabs, he did mention the option of using American Walnut. Very cool to see one done up!!!
Quite a few Wals available right now:
two identicle shedua Mk2 5 strings with gold hardware, one is @ Andy Baxter's, the other in the TB classifieds. Then a walnut 83 Mk1 on ebay, and BWorman's walnut fretless 92. Then over on basschat someone just posted a shedua Mk2 5 string that has the Mk3 style neck heel priced way up there. The Bass Gallery has a walnut Mk2 5 fretless, and still has that lefty wenge Mk1. Last but not least the Pro 1E fretless in the TB classifieds.

Looking for opinions... I want to get my ProIIe fretted. The fretless rosewood board doesn't agree with me. Although it was recently serviced I can't help but think I should send it to Wal for a checkup. I'm in the US (MD) so I would send body and neck separately and have it come back in a new case. The old brown one is beat. The obvious option is to get it refretted locally but I've had limited success with local repairs.
Assuming the cost to send it to Wal was tolerable, (and I know it will be high), which way would you go?

Dunc, Kulit just had his Pro 1 convereted to fretted at Jim Mouradian's. Ask him for more details.
The new cases are much nicer and tough, I hate using the old fiberglass ones...as cool as they look and all.

@bassplace is your Pro a line or unlined fretless? If it's lined Jim Mouradian can do it.... if it's unlined, he told me he wouldn't be able to do it.
If I had another lined fretless neck, I would have no problem going back to Jim. However, if I was going to get an unlined converted....I'd prob sent it to Paul.... especially if I needed to get things addressed with the body and/or electronics.

It's lined but Jim appears to be up in MA and if I'm going to ship it I might as well ship it all the way.
yup, i just drove up since he's about a 30-40 minute drive to me.
I guess it all depends on cost and where you want to be after its all set and done. Cost to get it fretted with Jim was about half what Paul was gonna charge and about 2/3 what Mike Lull was gonna charge to fret a lined fretless.
Also cost from MD to MA is very minimal for shipping compared to UK. If you do end up shipping your bass to Paul, you may want to review this:

I haven't exported a bass for repairs yet, so I can't speak from experience, but if you want to avoid paying customs for the modification/repair, it may be worth while to review this.
The boards are ok so the best option may be to just get the refret. I'll have to mull this over for a bit
I know what you mean. I really love the Mk3 body shape/ balance. Also, thank you for helping to put the word out there about my Mk1, it sold. I am sad to see it go but it just didn't compare to the Mk3 fretless 5 string.

There is a lefty Wenge mark1 for sale in the UK...
Was looking for a black Mark1 or III but 24 months and price increases...
Does anyone know if Paul will refinish one of his older basses and if Wenge
can be opaqued and filled to the point where there is no tell tale grain seen
through the finish?
