An MK1 with sycamore facings, gloss transparent kelly green, both body and neck, chrome hardware.
Grrr...so I am not a member of this club...yet...but have wanted a Wal since Power Windows came out (which is the same time I started playing...85-ish). I finally am in a position to be able to afford one and Ive narrowly missed on a few so far. I just found what looks to be a really nice MKII but its in the UK (im in the US) and the seller only wants to do a bank transfer. Ive talked to him via email and he seems to know his stuff and doesnt give the impression of being a scammer but Im seriously worried. Does anyone have any tips/suggestions on a transaction like this? I have bass playing relatives in the UK but they told me they are fairly far away from him so no chance to inspect it beforehand.
Does he live near Wal HQ? see if he's open in getting it there and having paul pack it up.... or even better - have Paul look over the electronics prior to it going state bound.
No, he doesnt unfortunately. Its a great looking bass at a very good deal but Im not sure I can 100% trust this deal.
I am crazy jealous! A Wal MKI Fretless will always be a bucket list item for me.

Yeah I just hit him with those questions about a track record but haven't heard back. It's frustrating because I've missed on a few now by minutes. I told him to FaceTime me with the bass but he never answered. Think I'm gonna pass

why not go for jro's Mk2 in the classifieds? It's already in the US.
Yeah thats actually a great idea, If you can get him to do a Facetime session to get a close-up of the instrument, have him unscrew the backing plate and inspect the electronics.. Any Wal owner would probably be happy to do that for a potential buyer..

Yup, I wouldn't hesistate to buy a fretless and have it fretted. I've done it once to a Mk1 and would do it again.
