Hope it's ok, wanted to share a live recording with my (new) Berlin-based band, Rest now, Paul. My Wal is quite prominent there 
I personally think that Wal is little overpriced at The Low End. If it plays and sounds amazing I'd overlook the finish checking. It is polyester after all and that tends to happen if the bass experience a sharp change in temperature. Nitro is much worse....but totally worth it for the sound.
That one isnt temp checking, it was cracked caused by the output jack plate where you can see it got bent and pushed into the finish and it spread from there.
Holy crap! Really? I guess I'd better be careful with my Poly Wal 5. I can't believe the cracking tracked that far like that. What a shame.
In the last 10 years i havent seen a Wal at the Low End that wasnt overpriced....lol
Yeah, Brian tends to be a bit pricey on used.
He's got an interesting consignment policy too. He asks you how much you want for the bass and figures out what he thinks he can sell it for and keeps the difference. That gets away from the whole standard 20% off sale price for most. I can't imagine what Brian's trades value are. You'd better know what you're doing, that's all I can say about that.
But what about the other cracks... front the neck pocket round the side and under the neck plate. And the double crack from the neck pickup cavity to the top edge... can't just be the bash on the jack socket running, surely? Looks more like that bass got one heck of a physical or thermal shock! Yeowch!

Well no, of course it wouldn't all be from one impact. Weather checks are one thing. But with the large chunk of poly missing at the headstock down to the bare wood all seems to tell this bass had a previous life of bad mishandling.
In the pic that jack plate is still bent and jabbing the finish.
Cripes! Hadn't spotted that chunk out of the headstock. That's more than bumping it on the ceiling once or twice when you're taking the strap over your head. You're right someone certainly done that poor bass wrong sometime.
I finally have a Wal MK2 (fretted 4 string) bass. It is on its way to me from Europe. It will hopefully be at my door step in the next few weeks - it is being shipped all the way around the world to me in New Zealand.
I will post some pics of it after it arrives. I will definitely be after a number once it is in my hands
