when i got my blueburst mk3 last year, it felt like my other Paul era 2011 Mk2 fretless , so his necks are pretty consistent with profiles. My current build i have due in Aug/Sept, i requested for a harder V profile. as far as cost, its probably best to email him and inquire since it may differ depending what exactly is being requested.

IF I find a used one I can always just ask about the neck shape. I'm going to chug away at some other basses and see if its my hand in general or the Wal causing my hand to cramp. If its the Wal I think its purely cramping because of the shape. I did a couple "measurements" last night and its about as thick front to back as my 78 Ric 4001. So I don't think its because of the thickness. Plus I have a slew of vintage P basses with standard B necks that don't bother me.... I think :)

Just thinking about those comments. We all have a neck profile we prefer. But if playing a slight V shaped neck causes your hand to cramp you may have a bigger left hand technique problem you need to look at.

Wals aren’t unusually wide, narrow, fat or thin in the spectrum of bass necks. So do check out your technique in case it is storing up issues for the future.

Yes, on both of my 2016 Mk3 5ers Paul did barely any V (more C like) and about 21mm thicknesses. I gave him the measurements of the 86 5er I had and we went from there as I wanted them slimmer.
Price depends on your build.

Yup, that was where I was kinda going with that comment. I play thumb over the top a lot and that's probably part. Thinking now its probably slightly less wood because of the v shape. Thinking crazily, I wonder if its in part because my thumb is double jointed. Instead of a rounder neck pushing that part of my palm out. could be resting closer making have to over reach instead of turning my wrist. Probably using my thumb behind ( like I should) it would be less a painful/less cramp. just thinking out loud.

Cant go with what Paul now makes vs what Pete made.
My 96 Mk3 5er had a way slimmer neck than any...way slimmer than I even like on a 5er. I believe Paul changed to a thicker neck on the Mk3 5 to make it more sturdy than before.

Hmm, I’m curious what the measurements of mine are now. It’s a 2006. I haven’t played a Paul era Wal...yet. I know it feels slim for a 5 string, then again my MK1 had a very thin neck as well.

What case do you "Wal-nuts" store your precious bass guitars in? I am talking about long term home storage other than the old fiberglass dogbone cases.I have various Mono and Reunion Blues heavy duty bags that serve the purpose of short term travel.I have stored the original cases and don't want to add any unnecessary wear and tear.I place a premium on protection and want to be especially careful with these precious resources.Any input will be much appreciated.

Mine live in Hiscox Lite Flite cases - purchased from Pete 15+ years ago,
