How strange though...three maple faced MkII's show up for sale in the US all within about 2 weeks of eachother.

I agree with Toolmybass, I've had my MkII for a little less than two months now, when I collected it in London temp was about 20ºC and now here in Rome we have 43ºC..... which is a huge difference, well I didn't have to touch the trussrod. I sincerely think that Wals would barely need one!!!!!
Not my experience at all. The neck on my '91 Wal Mark I fretless is very temperamental and needs minor tweaks every few weeks or so. I'm willing to put up with a bit more maintenance than usual because it has a sound from the heavens.

I think it depends on the fretboard wood. Generally, ebony tends to be a lot more sensitive to humidity changes than rosewood does. When I had the rosewood board on my old MkII replaced with ebony, it became a lot more tempermental. Fortunately, the Wal truss rod is pretty easy to adjust.
