I primarily use ss strings. But if your looking for other really bright nickles:
DR Sunbeams.
Another one is the new SIT nickel Foundations. SIT sent me a beta demo 45-105 set two years ago and they're still on my StingRay, and unbelievable that they are still bright and tons of shimmer. I've been meaning to grab a couple sets of my preferred 40-100 to try on the Wals.
Might be from the same slab? Mine's a late 2010.
i really want a second one but id have to sell too many basses that i want to keep to achieve that. So i recently filled the hole with something else. Not a wal but pretty cool and probably the brightest Gibson bass I’ve ever played.View attachment 3370262

You really think so? Interesting, I find them to be on the mellow side, and quite low tension, too. I love them on Jazz basses, they sound so nice and warm. I always regarded Sunbeams as the mellowest roundwound nickels out there. They break in very fast, and lose their initial zing and bite quickly. After that, they have a nice musical midrange to my ears. For sure the quickest to deaden out, too.
Love that BT15 in a headbox. Great sounding heads.
Can I ask where you had the headbox made? I have an orphaned BT15 and that would be a neat thing to have.
I have to use nickels on my Midi Wal, so I use Sunbeams on it. And yesterday I had a leftover set so put them on my Ric.
Yeah, I find them very bright, much brighter than GHS Boomers, and brighter than R Cocco nickels. Yup I agree they do settle down, and then they stay like that for nearly a year for me.
I like a little bit a scoop in strings, Wals are mid heavy and have honk.
its in gold.....

Woah, nice bass!
And I love '78 StingRays! Lets see it too.
That MK2!!!! GorgeousNew Wal bass day - 1980 Wal Bass Custom. They say there is only one thing better than 1 x Wal bass and that is more than one Wal bass. I have taken a pic of my new Wal Custom beside my Wal mk2. I also bought a 78 Musicman Stingray with the Wal Custom which is inside the black Rockcase underneath the Mk2 (the bass is not shown in the pic)
