Wal Bass Club.

If you're a one man band looking for a small workshop, you're about the bottom of the pecking order as far as landlords are concerned.

I guess Paul was smart there in picking a place way (...and I mean way) out in the middle of nowhere to do business. Absolute beautiful train ride out there though!

Anybody have a Wal they want to sell? I just missed out on the acid stained mark one on Facebook. Seller told me he wanted 3500 euros ($4200) for the bass. Which of course I told him I would do immediately since I was the first to speak with him. He just now informed me someone else offered 6000 euros and asked if I could top that. LOL!

Why would you want that fretless anyway? In your current ad for your Pro 1, you said it's a better fretless than a Mk 1.
Very true, but you and I both know neither of us would turn down a $4200 acid-stained Maple mk1, am I right or not? It could always be fretted, too. For your information, I would prefer a pro 2e for the bridge pickup. My pro 1e only has the neck pickup. It sounds great, don't get me wrong. But I like having both options. Especially when it comes to Fretless and how much the bridge pickup can add to the desired tone.

Have they moved? Companies House still has them listed as being based at the Old Cattle Shed in Leatherhead. I don't know if 5 minutes from the busiest motorway in the country counts as the "middle of nowhere", hence my asking. ;)

Yes thats the correct address. Its farmlands where they are. It seemed a little more than 5 minutes.

I hold my hands up, I must have been over-ambitious, it is 7 mins drive from their address to the busiest motorway in the UK, 9 minutes if you take the scenic route. I used to work for a client in Leatherhead, it's not what I'd call remote. ;)

It's like buying a car on a 0% APR loan for 3 years. Only need to watch GBP conversion rates. Very wise, not to mention used Wal prices will probably reach the break-even point once you receive the bass.

My good friend said this to me, pretty much: next thing I knew I PayPaled Paul (tongue twister lol) £500.

Question for the experts here! Will Wal make a try-color sunburst with pick guard and pickup toggle switch like the JG or Pro model now? I love the vintage models but they are difficult to come by and would consider ordering a new one that recreates the old school vibe. Thanks!

Not at this time. those parts back then are long gone and the pickups used for Pro's are wired differently than those used in the Mk series. I spoke to Paul 4-5 years ago asking him if he would ever consider doing a reissue, but he said flat out said he wasn't planning on it.

It seems though prices on Pro's are climbing as far as market trends.
