Also there are some carbon resistors that can get brittle (like 5 or 7 of them) they used in the 80s.

The two electrolytic (beer can) shaped caps are the pitfall 'must replace' ones. You can find them anywhere that sells electronics parts. 4.7 uF

It's an early Pro/Custom crossover model with a Mahogany core and a Niangon facia.

Yes there is not much you can do as a righty with that fretted lefty neck. Other than have the cracks repaired, the logo reversed and have new sidedots. You could better sell the neck to a lefty I guess.

I bought it. It’s a beautiful bass, probably the nicest Wal I’ve ever played. Light too. I’ll keep it until my new one arrives.

The schedua one was the heaviest and made in 1996. It weighed almost 13 pounds and after three nights of gigging in a row, I felt as though my clavicle were ready to break. The ash is a solid body and the lightest 6 String Wal I have played. It was the first Wal 6er made, the prototype. The Wenge is a build I had commissioned From 2017. The Mk3 is the most ergonomically perfect and advanced bass I have ever played. If I had to choose one bass for eternity...it’d be a Mk3.View attachment 4145922View attachment 4145923

It’s sitting on a shelf in the garage for now. It’s actually a beautiful straight, fast neck based on the quick try I had of it. The “cracking” is a mystery I will try to unravel one day, suffice to say that where the laquer ends in the neck pocket one of the cracks also ends, so that’s obviously just a finish crack. I may end up getting it repaired and re-orientated and keep it a as spare. Not sure yet. Nice little bonus to have though, especially with the paddle and “Custom” logo.

Yes, I’ve been looking for a fretless mk1 or Pro Wal for last 15 years actually. I’ve got a new build due in 2013 so this one will tie me over until then. It was really nice to be able to try it out before buying. The previous owner only lived 20 minutes from me. I have been very lucky!
