Question about the wood layers in that body sandwich: It's my understanding that Wals usually have one contrasting layer, a very thin maple or walnut veneer laminate mostly only visible at the forearm bevel, in between the mahogany core and the (in this case, sycamore) top cap. But it sure looks from ^^^that picture as if there's another thin laminate of sycamore in between the lighter contrasting maple veneer and the mahogany core!
- is that an optical illusion? or
- is this a special, atypical, custom body construction? or
- is my understanding of Wal laminates incorrect?
