Wal Bass Club.

Congratulations on your purchase! And yes, by the bylaws of the Wal Bass Club, you are required, until penalty of shunning, to post pics.
Haha, thanks for the congratulations and for the warm welcome! A Wal bass has been my holy grail bass so I’m thrilled to have had the chance to get one. I purchased it from a kind member of this forum but I’m not sure how they’ll feel about being named so I’ll let them come forward if they like. He was a pleasure to deal with though and I’m grateful I got the chance to get this beauty of a bass.

I’m glad to see that the photos for entry requirement has stayed constant. I’m in the process of moving house so everything is packed away but I do have one photo. I’ll try and post a few more when it makes it to its new home.

Lovely! What year is it?
Thanks very much. The backplate has it as a June 2002 mahogany core with shedua facings and a rosewood fingerboard. It's also got what I take to be Pete's calling card. The previous owners seem to have looked after it incredibly well, which I'm grateful for. Notwithstanding its relatively delicate look, it has a satisfyingly girthy growth/roar and the B string is a joy. As mentioned, it's packed up for a home move at the moment but I'm itching to play it, as you may expect!

That is a spectacular schedua top! Enjoy it! The wait will absolutely be worth it!!!!

Okay so today was the day- I finally got to play a Wal MK2 for the first time ever. It was a 90s 5 string and was surprisingly way lighter than it looked.. didn’t get to play it amplified (guuhh) but hopefully I’ll be able to do that soon. It sounded nice unplugged though and the neck had a good, tight feel for a 5’er IMO. Not too chunky!
While I’m here, I was wondering out of simple personal curiosity if anyone knows how many people work @ the Wal shop- like, how many people are actually in the building manufacturing parts & assembling instruments?
This may or may not have already been discussed but figured I’d ask anyways.

that is a very hard pick for me, they all have something that makes them awesome. The first one has the nicest, darkest color. My favorite wenge color for sure.
Second one has the most contrast in the grain, making the wood look dramatic.
third one has the most interesting figuring to me, looks like a pair of eyes or fireballs.

I guess I would pick number 3, but in all honesty... that's not an easy pick, they are all great!

Hey gang. Got my much anticipated email from Paul tonight with my facings. Pretty easy choice for me but thought I'd post up for you all for fun.

Anyway tell us what you think and I'll tell you what I picked tomorrow night. The idea that I'll have this thing finished this year is very exciting!
Don’t think u can go wrong with any here. That said I think the first is the best. Don’t forget to post the progress pics!

As promised the Wicked Wenge Wal facings Winner was.........

When I asked the guys to build me one of these I wanted them to basically build me the fretted version of this absolute stunner:

The grain pattern is almost exactly the same between them though mine seems to be more darker than light which is perfect for me..

I love wenge that is that super deep colour so I was instantly sold when I saw that one come up. Mine will be satin rather than gloss as I enjoy the more natural feel at the cost of slightly less brilliant looks. Anyway don't think I will even attempt to hide how excited I am!

Very cool 6-string. How much does it weigh? And how is the balance on the six string Wals, no neck dive?
