Wal Bass Club.

I had a really unpleasant dealing with him just prior to pandemic. He took back the bass he sold me but did not offer to pay shipping. I posted about it here as his name had come up around the same time so he reached out privately and offered to do the right thing by refunding my shipping. I accepted and nothing happened.

It seems like he is playing the "I have money" game. He buys expensive stuff that he knows little about, and then tried to resell it for a premium. I don't know if he doesn't know about what he buys or doesn't care, but my guess is the former. Clearly he came looking for a partial refund when he realized he couldn't get what he wanted reselling your bass or it had problems he never realized.

In my case, I had bought a Modulus Q5 described as all original. When I got it the fingerboard looked exceptionally thick and there were multiple dots at the dotted frets- a small one on the fret and larger one in between frets. It was clear to me within 30 seconds that it was a lined fretless that had been fretted. He tried to argue with me until I schooled him.

So yeah, an educated consumer is his worst customer.

Thanks for pointing out his new account. I guess reverb gave him the boot once before.

Anyone able to share experience playing an early non-filter --active single pickup-- Wal? I'm interested in how the early 1 pickup models with pick and mid boost worked out for club members. I've read reviews of the 2 pickup models, but there are few reviews of the single pickup models.

So, I have finally replaced the original tuners of my 1993 MK2 5 by the Schaller M4S Lights.

The weight of the original Schaller is 114g complete with bushing.
The weight of the new Schaller M4S light is 81g, complete with bushing.

Installation was super easy. Takes a few minutes with a 19mm wrench.
Total weight saving for me is 165g. The balance of the bass is improved.

That’s a holy trinity! I have a belated 50 birthday MTD 534 due in two weeks. Paul just contacted me regarding facings and will be sending pics to choose from soon.

What is the facing on the far right bass?

This MTD 535 has a flamed redwood top (over a mahogany body).
It's not my first MTD and this was one speaks to me a lot.

I have not had the pleasure to choose any woods for these basses, must be exciting !

Congrats --- I like number one best. (two would be my second choice) ...all will be amazing I am sure.
So does this put you around 6 to 8 months left, before shipping?[/
They are quite similar in the density of the figuring.

The first one has an unfigured spot where the knobs would be, so I would probably choose this one.
I wanted to get some opinions from Walnuts #1 is my favorite #2 would have been an easy choice, but the lack of figuring where the upper horn is why I like #1 the best.
Like Eneade mentioned the knobs will cover the blank area .
Paul also sent some Quilt tops the same ones that RedbirdGT posted recently none of them grabbed me. I sent Paul another message and Redbirds bass as a reference for quilt then I will make my desision.
Scott I ordered the Wal Oct20, I haven’t asked but I would guess that’s when the Wal will arrive. On the FB page a few members got their basses a couple of months early and one a month later. My mindset is if Wal ships in December I will be happy.

That would be a nice belated 50th bday/Xmas gift for you, J!
Soon as they open up orders again, I may jump on board to place an order for another MK3 - (MK2 headstock) - trans black to natural centre (maybe) with weight conscience and thinner neck request....I'd like to keep it 9lbs or less. Possibly a rippled or heavy BEM top. ...a man can dream, right?! lol
