Wal Bass Club.

I also just noticed (some mornings I am not too bright lol) ..the left side of image one is the same as the right side of image two - just spun 180 degrees. ...and the left side of image two is the same as the right of image three...and well you can see the rest....all the same wood, just juggled around on all three!. Surprising how different they all become. Anyway - back to my coffee's. Cheers fellas.

In fact 1 and 2 are the same tops with the cutout reversed.
For 3, the left and right parts have been switched (so the center line is now on the outside).
The three tops are in fact the same two pieces bookmatched differents ways.

As many have you have told me in the past...you can definitely say "I told you so".
I find going through the experience of selling or offering for a trade fun, especially when you have a bass that is almost a mythical creature to own. Some individuals don't find this fun because it does come with headaches. I get that. End result, in the time I have had my one and only Wal listed, I got a lot of interest. Some really great, highly respectable trade offers. My asking price was available within 2 hours of listing. I still have an active offer involving an individual who has a recent MK2 4 string. So I can confirm that the market is very healthy. However, since I've been down this road so much with all the other brands, it's hard to find an off brand that tops Wal. Sure, an all original 1960 Fender Jazz with a solid colour sounds so enticing...but if anything is wrong with it, it's not worth it. An Alembic Series 1 or 2? Interesting comparing those in terms of value because Alembic's have huge new build prices that dwarf a Wal, but the market value of them are under in my opinion, very dependant on age as well. And that goes about the same for some of the most tricked out Foderas you can buy or the Anthony Jackson Signature Model. Yes, I've owned these and they sat in the same room as Gmork and guess who is still here? If you have a decent Wal, it's worth holding onto IMHO. :)

:) Yes I know what top shelf means. I am just curious what is top shelf in Wal standards and why it is three times as expensive. Shouldn’t everything be top shelf for the price you pay? What facings are we talking about?
I don’t know if this facing is three times as expensive as I mentioned in an earlier post.( pretty damn close) I think the Top Shelf facing description is pretty accurate in figure and pricing.

While I liked the Zebrano Paul sent it didn’t scream “THATS THE ONE”. Well this one did:bassist: Final payment to Paul is now higher but worth it to me!

looks amazing! I like it much better than the zebrano. What facing is this?

I don’t fully understand what you are saying though. What do you mean by ‘the top shelf facing description is pretty accurate in figure and pricing’? Is it written somewhere what the pricing for a certain facing is? Is it on the website?

I think I remember Pedulla having price variations based on the “grade” of wood. Figured maple was in AA, AAA, AAAA,etc.
I’m getting a cabinet made at the moment and one thing I’ve learnt is that wood can get expensive!

Someone in the FB group asked Paul about some premium facings and Paul sent him some higher quality ones to choose from.
I’m glad he mentioned this. The first batch of Quilted tops were nice but not quite what I was looking for. Then I sent Paul a pic of RedbirdGTs recent MK2 and asked if he had any Quilt like his bass. “Top Shelf” was my description.:smug:
