I just wanted to thank Mike and Jose for all the knowledge they freely share in this club. I have bombarded the both of them a few times with questions and they have always have so patient and cool!

A quick question for you all-
I’m poised to potentially trade with a pal for his MK2, which is amazing overall, the only catch is that it’s a 5 string. I’ve been a 4 string player exclusively but am willing to take to dive into having a low B for this particular bass (the opportunity is timed great & just works!)
However, having had read the entirety of this thread over the years I’ve seen examples of people swapping Wals for the same reason I’d swap this one.
I guess my question is this- for people that have traded their Wal for another Wal privately, how long did it take to find an interested swap partner / the right Wal to make the trade for? Are 5 string Wals in high demand?
Nothing is set in stone yet but I guess I’ll be posting it up for trade only in the classifieds here once I’m able to. In the meantime I’m just curious to hear about others’ experiences with similar circumstances.

Can’t really help with the majority of your question but I will say the B string on my Wal is one of the best B strings I’ve played if that helps at all.
Yeah I’m a fan! I think it would probably take just a lil bit of getting used to having it there but I’m hesitant to go down the 5 string path fully. Been playing on 4s for 30 years lol.

what are you trading this 5 string MK2 for?
didn't work for me. I was able to get a hang and play a 5er (not Wal), but I never reached the same state of playing proficiency. It never felt natural or 'at-home'. 4s are much more comfy for me and I just stopped trying to go to 5 or 6 string basses.
OK so my acquisition of the 5er is still tentative, but I’ve been given the opportunity to take it home for the weekend and give it a good test drive thru my setup there.
Sounds AMAZING paired with my 400RB. And honestly, the neck isn’t too much bigger / chunky feeling than the Vintera neck P I’ve got.
Honestly it’s one of the most cozy feeling basses I’ve ever put hands on. I don’t think I’ve bonded so quickly with any other bass. I’m eager to feel how a 4 string feels in comparison but I’d be 100% fine with keeping the 5 string, truth be told. HUGE FAN of the E string on this one too, lol- literally blown away here.
Also does anyone know how hard it would be to snag a truss rod access cover? Guess the previous owner lost it, no biggie but it’d be cool to pop a new one on if possible.

But make a list if there's any worn or stripped screws and get everything at once. Order a T shirt too! But get the next size up as Euro-sized shirt sizes are smaller than US sizes.

Thought you said you would trade it for a four string Mk2 or Mk1? So I guess you know how the four string feels already?

No, Its not his yet.
He's trading some other kind of bass for this Mk2 5, and then may be offering it a straight trade for a 4 string if he ends up not liking having a 5 string.

A Wal does sound great through a GK RB. My favourite setup.

Ive never seen one offered for the new M4S Light. But Hipshot has always said their custom shop can usually build a tuner into one, contact them.
