My MkII Fretlesses from 1986, 1991 and 2020:
The '86 has Shedua facings while the '91 and '20 have American Walnut facings.
Weights are 5.25KG, 5.05KG and 4.45KG respectively...

I've always wanted to try an early 5 (86-88) fretless with the smaller pickups because they're also positioned a hair closer to the bridge. I had an 86 and always imagined the snarlier midrange would speak really well as a fretless. I had thought about defretting it but ended up selling it.
That sums up my experience as well.
I am selling 2 of the 3 and keeping the remaining one.

I was just going to ask why you have three more or less the same fretless basses? But I see you are going to seel two of them. I suspect they more or less of sound the same?

Haha. I know what you are saying. But I like to keep my collection as distinct as possible. So I will never own two or three times (more or less) the same bass. So no two fretted Mk1's but rather one fretted and one fretless, or one fretted Mk1 and one fretted Mk2 for example. I only need one jazz bass instead of three for example. But that's me, that doesn't apply to everyone of course.
What can i say - I am a little bit special i guess...

First time poster here, I’m waiting on the arrival of my first Wal in the next 4-5 weeks. What bass settings would you Rhcp fans in here suggest to get the Blood Sugar tone? I’m really training to match the tone on the song “if you have to ask”.
But now that you are going to sell two, what are you going to buy back? Another Wal?
Not sure what's next. At some stage I would like to try a 4 string MkI but i am in no hurry.

I will be selling all but 2 or 3 of my collection.
Mainly Warwicks but also a few Pedullas, a couple of Spectors, a Ritter and some others that i am sure i am forgetting...

Thanks. My 1987 Warwick JD Thumb is staying with me forever. I am likely to also keep the Spector Euro and 1 Wal. I am trying to whittle it down to 2 or 3 at the most. I think we all know how that normally goes...
I love the look of Ritters. I’ve not played one but I’m also a sucker for clean white basses. Great collection!
