Wal Bass Club.

I *used* to always use Dunlops until I had two (different) sets fail. I've changed over to Schaller S-Locks. I didn't care for Schallers before (so squeaky!) but I really like the S-Locks.

But that's how it is, what's prefect for one person won't work for another. However you keep that bass from making an unscheduled divergence is all that matters.

The info page I printed off dated May 12th 2014. Exactly 10 years ago, when I was planning my silver Mk3 build.

At those prices compared to today, I could have ordered two Mk1's for the price I'm paying for my current Mk1 order! :roflmao:

I just paid off the final balance on my mk3 build today. What I’d give to jump in a Time Machine and travel back a few years. I could probably have ordered two basses as well for what I just forked out :bawl:

So they doubled in price in 10 years? That’s crazy! Not sure about the new prices now….

2021 just before the order closure, the last known standard Mk1 price was £6950.
It would be very close to 8 now had the order book stayed open.

My particular Mk1 order has several options that's pushed it well over that.

I wish my paycheck had also doubled the last ten years. Unfortunately it didn’t….:)

What are you playing through? Paul sets the pickup heights pretty low on the new basses, but the preamp gain is still factory set at maximum. If this bass output is way higher than your others and your amp (or whatever you're plugged into) and doesn't like it, then you can trim down the gain pot in the control cavity. Or if it’s just too boomy on the bass, maybe trim the low-end pots.
Thanks for the reply. Excuse my ignorance but what trim pot would be for the gain?

Has anyone used Labella Black Nylon Tape Wounds on their Wal? I’ve got them on my one and only 2020 fretless. Quite impressed. Thinking the flats that came with it never had the sound I was looking for or their just old. Keeping them…but these LaBella’s sound good! :)
