Mine were quite expensive. But I don't even think about that any more. I enjoy having them. So I guess it was worth it.Still wondering if I'm on the pre-deposit waitlist. Though it's likely an academic question at this point, I still go back and forth on whether it actually makes sense to get a Wal given the cost.
I've wanted one for decades, but.... one will cost more than my upright. I wish Paul could have responded to my email about whether or not I'm still on the waitlist. C'est la vie.Mine were quite expensive. But I don't even think about that any more. I enjoy having them. So I guess it was worth it.
Early to mid May is the latest estimate- but it's amazing getting to see the finish for the first time.

Lovely stuff! I had an email from Paul yesterday saying mine is likely to be due mid May. He said he'll try to have it done some time in the week commencing 5th May as ill be near London to pick up in person. I've not had another photo update yet but looks like Mine and yours will be siblings!View attachment 7192714

Congratulations your MK1 is stunning! It seems these days based on the pics I've seen matching headstocks are becoming the norm.View attachment 7192714

Whoa! That pickups almost looks like it's in Aria SB-1000 territory! Did you have a particular position in mind @mikeswals ? Or where you going for Stingray-ish vibes? I drool either way!
Ahhh- your bass is so pretty and one of the ones I sent to Paul as a reference for what I was looking for! How do you like it now several years out?
However, the more I look at your idea, the more I would love a Wal with a pickup in the Aria Pro II SB-1000 position, just because I am an SB-1000 nut.![]()
One of these days soon I still want to pick up an SB1000.
But you should look for an old Pro Bass. They did single neck pickup ones, and its probbaly placed more like the Aria. The late 70s ones came in either active or passive. The 80s 'reissue' ones came in passive.
