Wal Mart and their ridiculous practices

The moral of the story here is to not shop there. Walmart offers you low prices at the sacrifice of even more quality. I will tell you these facts:

Walmart sells video games of which the discs are made in mexico and will not work in 6 months or damage very quickly through normal use. Try buying one and exchanging it somewhere else the barcodes are different. You saved 6 cents on a game and they saved 5 to 6 bucks on you.

Walmart also sells low quality food. An example would be to buy your favorite Campbells chunky soup at Walmart, then get it somewhere else. The Walmart soup will splash into your bowl because it is watered down, lesser quality product.

Walmart sell black and decker tools made with lower quality components then the Sears black and decker tools of the same model.

Same with any and all electronics.

Why shop at this place that rips off the American consumer then tells us how wonderful they are. They are not a company that represents America in a positive way.

You get what you pay for.

i would like some credible, non-biased sources on this, please :)

i may have to start having to shop at walmart more often and i'd like the scoop..

I shop at WalMart, I shop at Target, I shop at KMart, I go to Home Depot and Lowes, I go to Guitar Center and Sam Ash...

I was actually getting to a making point with this until I suddenly realized that these are some good damn lyrics. Stand back beeotches, I got a new hit song on the way..

Two statements that handcuffs can be used for restraint. I don't know if that counts as "hands off" or not, but I'd suggest not.

I would have to lean towards this not counting as hands off as well. I would also have to think that this hands on policy that this wal fart has is also illegal since the two security dorks were taken out of the store in cuffs.

Here is what I found about shoplifting laws in Florida.
[Invalid or Expired Link Removed]

Florida State Statute 812.015

Retail and farm theft; transit fare evasion; mandatory fine; alternative punishment; detention and arrest; exemption from liability for false arrest; resisting arrest; penalties.

(3)(a) A law enforcement officer, a merchant, a farmer, or a transit agency’s employee or agent, who has probable cause to believe that a retail theft, farm theft, a transit fare evasion, or trespass, or unlawful use or attempted use of any anti-shoplifting or inventory control device countermeasure, has been committed by a person and, in the case of retail or farm theft, that the property can be recovered by taking the offender into custody may, for the purpose of attempting to effect such recovery or for prosecution, take the offender into custody and detain the offender in a reasonable manner for a reasonable length of time. In the case of a farmer, taking into custody shall be effectuated only on property owned or leased by the farmer. In the event the merchant, merchant’s employee, farmer, or a transit agency’s employee or agent takes the person into custody, a law enforcement officer shall be called to the scene immediately after the person has been taken into custody.

I think the key word/phrase in all this is "in the case of retail or farm theft, that the property can be recovered by taking the offender into custody may, for the purpose of attempting to effect such recovery or for prosecution, take the offender into custody and detain the offender in a reasonable manner for a reasonable length of time."

Reasonable manner has not clearly been defined.

Your personal opinion is based on what you were told by a representative of Walmart and the OP's personal opinion was based of what he was told by a representative of Walmart. Both are evidence of Walmart policy (in all senses of the word) as they both evidence what you were told by Walmart. Any argument that we should accept your evidence and reject the OPs is based purely on the reliability of the person giving it. Both of you could be telling the truth, both could by lying, or either one of you could be lying.

This is absolutely correct. I don't expect anyone to take my word regarding WalMart policy without evidence. And for all I know the policy may even have changed since I worked there over ten years ago.

But evidence doesn't really matter, anyway. When some bum passes out in a WalMart parking lot or some woman gets groped by a pervert in a WalMart shoe department, it will be seen as absolute proof that WalMart is eeeeeeevil.

So here's my question...trying to get the thread back on track...not that I agree with what the two Wal-Mart goons did, but wouldn't you be kind of mad if you were them?

You did what you were instructed to do (supposed "hands-on" policy) and you are the one who is led away in cuffs. Yes, they were mistaken, but obviously they saw something and acted on it.

Personally I'm glad they were they ones who got arrested, but I thought I'd bring in another angle.

I think that the responsibility lies on the Walmart and it's management. If they're following orders as they were taught and allowed to do then Walmart is to blame, not the 2 goons IMO. If they were wrong in their actions then I'm sure their management would have told them to stop or tried to stop them more than they did.

The best time to shoplift from walamrt is at 3Am. they have very few staff, and there's more space to play hide-and-seek. Also, go in a group and do the "relay hand-off" and then all leave at once and dash to the car and top speed.

and before anyone jumps my gun about this, this is what I have been told.

Not all low income peoples are fatherless. Some are. Some aren't. I believe that was the most offensive part. Broad generalizations about the people who choose to or are forced to shop at a value/discount stores.
Are you joking? I can't tell if this is a well executed bit of sarcasm or if you really believe I'm that obtuse.

It's possible I was joking in a broad generalization-kind of way. You know, because it doesn't flow well when you start throwing out statistics of the number of single parent familes headed by the mother, how many of those fall on either side of the poverty line and then mix that up with the best "scientific" evidence you can scrape up about those groups and their shopping preferences, giving me a good-faith percentage of people I encounter that likely fit my scenario...the scenario I gave with an obstacle course of diapers.

Do I even need to add that I once owned a blimp, thereby making my opinion more important than others?
