At both of the WalMarts here, they sometimes check receipts.
For the guys who posted "X, Y, and Z is Wal-Mart policy" please stop and look and read and notice that other people are posting "Wal-Mart policy" that contradicts yours, and that there is ample evidence in this thread that the Wal-Mart rules vary by region if not even store by store.
There is no "evidence" of anything regarding WalMart policy in this thread - only anecdotes and personal opinion.
Any who, while in the office I was told that this Wal Mart has a hands on policy.
This policy is taught to all WalMart employees and they are tested on it (among other things such as safety, employee rights, customer service etc..) as part of their training procedure before they begin working the floor.
The vast majority of my LP experience comes from working at Walmart, and I absolutely loved it.
There is no hands-off policy in effect. You're expected to go hands on. There's also no pursuit policy at all, so you do what you feel comfortable doing. Additionally, you're allowed to use handcuffs (even in Canada, where private contract security cannot).
It's a good company to work for over all. No hands-off policy. If you have your 4 elements, make the stop, within reason anyway..
Wal-Mart officials say company policy states that security guards must see a suspect hide an item and walk past the registers to the front door before a minimum of two guards can confront the suspect.
Next, the guard must ask the suspect to return the stolen item.
If a suspect tries to flee, handcuffs can be used for restraint.
Jessica Moser, a corporate spokeswoman, said that although shoplifting policies vary from store to store, under no circumstances do any of the policies allow guards to kick a suspect.
Quoted so it can be seen by those who need to see it.a) You missed something. Again. b) Why do people always feel the need to announce this? It's like saying "not only do I not have the capacity to scroll past an opinion I historically read into and take too seriously, I'm gonna let that guy know that I think he's a douchbag and that I won't read any possible injection of logic or levity he might have to anything from here on out." You might as well just post a picture of yourself with your fingers in your ears and yelling "you're a douche bag, I can't hear you, you're a douche bag, I can't hear you, I'm wearing a dunce cap and putting myself in the corner where the pictures are pretty."
Since h-cat is now burying his head in the sand, could someone please enlighten me as to what he found so offensive? Are they his diapers? Not likely. I guess it's possible that he lets his kids roam nomadically in the wal-Mart parking lot, but I said fatherless kids, so I'm obviously not referencing any of his. Plus, I'm not even sure of his marital/child status. I guess it's most likely that he's guilty of leaving his shoppoing cart on the obstacle course or likes to release newspapers into the wild while there? If that's the case...no apologies. Walk the extra 12 feet and put it where it belongs.
Anyone? I didn't even get into the fact that there's about one full set fo teeth for every three people and about as many baths.
Mike
WalMart policy prohibits touching suspected shoplifters or even being confrontational with them. All they are permitted to do is call the police to have them deal with it.
Hello, is this thing on? . . . .![]()
Holy Crap with 2 capital letters, you're right. Perhaps "daffodil" bag? He might be a huge fan of flowers. After some thought, I decided that my response was a bit wordy and maybe THAT was what offended him. In that case, he probably meant Discourse-Bag. I'll edit my post to reflect his likely intent.BTW, arn't you assuming he called you a douchebag? Maybe he was saying you were a "delightful-bag" or a "daring-bag" or some other, not insulting and possibly disrespectful kind of bag!![]()
Maybe. Maybe he missed the obvious joke complete with an obstacle course. I even editted out the bit about the heaping pile of elephant crap and the parking lot with a different zip code because I thought it would be too over the top. I guess sometimes you have to draw with the big crayons.Maybe the guy didn't like the sweeping generalisms? Felt you were stereotyping? I dunno for sure.

Actually, they do. I don't agree with what they did, but they have the right to refuse service. You should walk right back into that Wal-Mart any time you'd like. They have no right to ban you.

Exactly. It's private property, and anyone can be refused service or entry as long as it's not based on something that's considered a federal offense, such as discrimination based on sex, religion, ethnicity, etc.as well, in Texas, any person in a home or place of business (people authorized to do so) would just have to ask you to leave, if you don't, you can be arrested for Criminal Trespass.
just my two pesos..
