Wal Mart and their ridiculous practices

I love WalMart. Whenever I go there I walk out feeling a lot better about my hair, my weight, and my choice of clothing. 
Wait when did they start checking receipts? Is this new or is it another local thing? I haven't been in one in about a month or so, but the only places I know of around here that do that are BJ's or CostCo where you have to be a member to shop there.
I have no idea if it's a local thing or not. The receipt checker is not always there, but I've had to go through him quite a few times. It's also been a long time since I've shopped at Wal-Mart, so I don't know if they've changed their policy.

I just took an exam over this kind of stuff.
Usually stores like this will just let them go. Because if they press charges because of being retained and restrained and whatnot, the store might lose more money that way.
I heard about a guy working at ____ store, who watched a guy shoplift and went after him, taking him down. This particular store was a no-hands-on practicing one, and that guy was fired...for doing the right thing.
America is very lawsuit-friendly.

Another entry into the 'people make me smile" files. The same goes for the evening news, cops (the show), TB OT, and craigslist. Instant sources for making me feel a whole lot smarter than I thought I was.
When I worked at Kmart many moons ago, we would follow people out and confront them, and call the cops, but we were told in no uncertain terms that if we touched them, we were subject to termination. Only our loss prevention officers were allowed to touch shoplifting suspects, and they had received training from the local PD.
I avoid all possible hassle by not shopping at that white trash magnet. Period. I've got nothing against them making as much money as possible off anyone. I just can't stand the clientele.
Thanks to stupidity, the nightmare begins when you try to find a parking spot. Packs of unrestrained children run wild in the lot like dogs. You have to avoid hitting those fatherless rugrats just to pull in. Getting out of the car and to the store is an obstacle course of dirty diapers, shopping carts and newspapers moistened by what you hope is the muddy water pooled up in the empty cart return corral. The final obstacle is the "shoplifting suspect pinned by two employees" right outside the door. A pain in the ass, I tell you.

There was a game a couple kids I know used to play. It was called "Duck, Duck, Dash" or something. Basically, you'd get a list of CDs together, and they'd go to WalMart, jack the CDs, and, when they saw people with massive carts leaving, walk beside them as they went through the security thing. he told me it was usually best to do it with old people or women who had lots of kids.
Of course, one day they got bold and tried to jack a PS2 (this was in 2003, BTW). They almost made it out the door when a sales guy (who has xray vision?) said he saw it under the kids jacket, and then goes and slide tackles him. The other dude kicked the guy in the head, and they split.
Of course, trying to outrun walmart security on bikes is a terrible idea, and they were caught and so on. It was pretty funny until I realized how easy it was to jack stuff

I think it's a stupid policy. You never know what a customer has underneath his shirt or in his pocket. What if a Walmart employee tries to stop someone from leaving the store and the guy has a gun or a knife? I think they're just asking to get one of their workers hurt or killed.

WalMart policy prohibits touching suspected shoplifters or even being confrontational with them. All they are permitted to do is call the police to have them deal with it.

For the guys who posted "X, Y, and Z is Wal-Mart policy" please stop and look and read and notice that other people are posting "Wal-Mart policy" that contradicts yours, and that there is ample evidence in this thread that the Wal-Mart rules vary by region if not even store by store.
