Walter Woods Amps History and Development

Ithe confusion lies in the variety of versions Walter made from around the same time periods as the amp evolved.
What are you confused about? The only Electracoustic specs that changed since it was introduced around 1995 was the Ultra that went from 1000 watts to 1200 watts. The pre Electracoustic stereo model(MI-225) went to 8 ohms bridged and had an upgrade to let it go down to 4 ohms. Every other WW amp has been limited to 4 ohms.
I've owned between 30 to 40 WW amps.
Ok I had an older one that I bought new in the early nineties that I could bridge into 8 ohms . I did run it with 2 bag ends a 1x115 4ohms and a 2x10 8 ohms and check with Walter at the time and told me that it would be fine, which it was. It had the plus, plus plus switches on the amp .
So, with your experience as a guide, does the Super do 2 Ohms? And how much power does it put out at 2 Ohms?
That's what I thought. Which is fine as I am not a fan of putting an amp under the stress of 2 Ohms even if rated for such, except for certain high end stereo amps.
Quick question: There's a WW Electracoustic available locally. Red top, which means it's a stereo amp, and blue pilot light. The owner says the output is 100W, which can't be right. Anybody know what this thing is? What would the bridged output be? I'm considering pairing it with a Greenboy Fearful F212 for upright bass. The cab is also available locally, but probably not for very long.
even if it's 100 watts, get it if the price is right. thats more than enough for an upright gig. but im pretty sure blue light is something like 1000 watts. i have the red light which is 100 watts and a green light, which is more. blue is even more than that and my 2 are fine
Walter did make a Electracoustic stereo model 100 watts @ 8 ohms only per side, designed for guitar. It can not be bridged!! Walter does not recommend it for bass.

Just my luck...Greeny tells me the LDS-built Fearfuls are teh suck, so this is a no-go all around. Thanks LC.

The color of the pilot light, should tell you the Wattage of the amp, blue has always signified his highest power rating. If it was a Mono Electro Acoustic, it's either 600-1,0000 watts, or 800-1,200 watts. I've heard (from low class) that there were Stereo Electro Acoustics. I don't
know what the power rating for side of the stereo configuration was.

100W/side @8ohms
225-350/side, 700-1000W bridged @ 8-4ohms
Ric, thanks, but between what Low Class said and what the seller said, I believe it's one of the low-wattage guitar amps that's of no use to me. Just another reason to eschew amps and play the bass the way God and Mingus intended in my book.
shwashwa, I know that very well. The last WW I had was a '98 with an Electracoustic front end and a MI-100 power section. I fed it into a range of Bag End cabs depending on the gig and it was murder.

Good news and bad news. The amp in the pic is an Ultra. Bad news is THAT'S MY AMP!! And THAT"S MY PICTURE!! I sold that amp on eBay several years ago and that pic is all over the web. For good reason, it looks cool. I put the red cover on it and the black screws. My guess is the guy selling it pulled the pic off the web and the amp he's actually selling is a MI-100. I'm pretty sure the guy I sold mine to out in Colorado still has it.
