These past few years I find myself completely fascinated with the dozens (no, hundreds!) of documentary footage found on YouTube, as told from all countries points of view of the 2ndWW ... Stalingrad was an especially epic turning point!

I don't get those rumblings watching any or every war movie, only (it seems) movies about the war in Vietnam Nam.
I stopped watching them in the late '70s.
You'd be hard pressed to find a better acting preformance than DeNiro and
Walken during the Russian Roulette scene.
...and This is the one that tore it for me.
The first one I think of is The Great Escape, because I watched it so many times when I was a kid.

I loved Band of Brothers but I could never actually finish The Pacific. On a side note, you enjoyed American Sniper? Most of the locals I have talked with hated the movie, it was a pretty big propaganda piece in most people's opinion. They also completely omitted the fact the guy was a huge P.O.S who actually enjoyed killing in the war. He also didn't enjoy referring to the people over there as people...
I like most of the movies mentioned. I need to see some of them, never heard of a couple of these. I am surprised nobody has mentioned Enemy at the Gates yet. I haven't seen it for years but it used to be on the movie station all the time so I have seen it countless times.
I watched the Pacific as I was hunkered down in a hooch in Afghanistan, so maybe it had a different effect on me. Also, on of my rugby teammates from high school was one of the stars - played Capt Haldane!
Agreed that American Sniper is a propaganda piece. Always good to understand other sides of the story. Gotta understand that Chris kyle's worldview was and is not unique amongst those who served there....
Akshilly...watching Enemy At The Gates is what got this thread started, and it's the very first movie mentioned.
Personally, I think it is one of the very best movies I've ever seen, and the five minutes built around the first meeting of the two protagonists are five of the best, most dramatic and compelling minutes of movie making I've ever watched!
