Warmoth Basses

My main four string is a Warmoth and I'm that happy with it that I bought an SX as a practice bass, so I don't put the Warmoth in harm's way unnecessarily; I keep it specifically for playing out. I don't plan to buy any other four strings, and if I had to grab one bass in the event of a fire, it'd be the Warmoth.

what would a bad boy like that cost? i assume it sounds the way it looks, like an awesome j bass?

How much it cost has been lost to the mists of time now, but it cost less for me to put together than an American Fender here in the UK. And that's with having the LEDs fitted too.

It's got Fender Custom Shop pickups in, and coupled with the birdseye maple neck and stainless steel frets, its a growly monster! I can approximate a nice Entwistle-esque tone with it, similar to his sound on the isolated tracks from Won't Get Fooled Again. I've also got a series/parallel mod wired in.

Has anyone played one made of swamp ash? Do you like the tone?

My main Bass is a 5r, Swamp Ash & Maple body ... I love the sound Great attack and sustain... lots of Swamp Ash POP I don't know how else to describe it.....

Built by one TBer and it floated to a few others before reaching me. It is a fantastic bass build and the quality is top notch. The neck does feel a bit thicker, more like a baseball bat, but it is comfy as anything else. The body - dinky jazz - highly recommended.
