Here is a pic of my twins. Woody on the right has been my #1 since 1988 when I got it, specs are: Swamp Ash body, Birds Eye neck w/Rosewood board, Schallers w/drop D-tuner and active EMG P/P pickups. The new guy on the left I picked up this week when assembly was complete (1st new bass in 16 years!) specs are:Alder body, Maple neck w/Rosewood board, Schallers w/drop D-tuner and active P/J pickups. All Warmoth parts of course.

Should make good progress this weekend, but the custom pickups and preamp will not arrive until mid week next. Should finish the following weekend.David Meadows at Audere said the noise circuitry is working well but it's going to be a bit of a rats nest in the cavity with six controls four noise control modules and four phantom coils in addition to the standard preamp module.
Those look like normal 4 string pickups?
Hows the consistency on the tone? It looks fantastic
Yea, it's a regular P-Bass converted to 5. They are Fender custom shop '62's and the A string is just a touch louder. Not enough for the general listener to hear, but I can tell.

New family portrait - all Warmoth.
Here's my first attempt. Swamp ash G4 body, roasted maple neck, pau ferro board. I finished the neck with a couple of coats of Tru-Oil for sweat protection. Nordstrand Bigman pup, and a customized Nordstrand pre with stacked volume/passive tone, p/p mids at 200/400, stacked bass/treble, a/p switch & series/single/parallel switch. Hipshot & Electrosocket hardware. I designed & cut the pick guard myself.
Just got my finished warmoth parts from MJT today. Charcoal frost nitro. Time to get to building
That is smoking hot. I'm not sure why the 2+2 headstock isn't used more often with the J bodies. I think it looks killer.
I made a Frankenfender a few years ago with a maple/maple Warmoth neck and 2+2 headstock. Dimarzio DP126 PJ combo. Was killer. Ruined it cause I wanted to see what a Fender neck would be like on it, so sold the Warmoth to do it.
Long story short the Fender neck was crap, so I sold out the other parts.
My next bass will be....

Thanks for the props. I'm a form-over-functiion sort of guy so a 2x2 tilt-back headstock suits me far better than the 4-inline arrangement.

I took a chance having them select a random body instead of paying extra for a "light" piece of Alder. On average, what kind of weights are you Deluxe 5 owners seeing? If you didn't specify "lightweight" were you disappointed with the end result? I'm hoping to keep the bass under 10 lbs if at all possible.

honestly, it could be a few more weeks. paint takes a while to cure and then they buff it to a nice shine finish. i did 2 warmoth builds and i don't remember getting email updates about when it went in for paint, must be a new thing they're doin
Justin was helping me out too. I asked him today about whether or not I could get a weight on mine after paint and he told me no. I don't think mine will be ready until around Christmas. I'm wondering if I should have gone for the lighter option as well, but I guess half the fun is finding out later!
