And the neck & parts are here! Pickups and bridge are ordered, just waiting on the body now! I really like the neck profile. Maple/Pau Ferro, 6130 frets, perloid blocks, 1-7/8" Graph Tech nut, no finish (the guy doing the build is doing the finish). It looks sharp with the creme/black/creme guard. It's gonna look great with the sonic blue body! All hardware & knobs will be chrome. The lighting was pretty crappy for the pic, but you get the idea.

Pickups arrived much sooner than expected! I wasn't aware the builder had ordered them earlier. I'm already getting the itch. I played one of the builder's basses that was built using similar woods/parts and the Nordy's just kill. We are trying out a few different tone caps as well just for an experiment. I've never had the opportunity to do that so we thought it would be a fun test when the body arrives.

My Warmoth Creations:

All basses have alder bodies with a candy apple red finish, maple Jazz bass necks with rosewood fret boards and satin finish, Jenz Aluminum Tuners, Gotoh 201 bridge, EMG pickups, white pearl pickguard, and chrome hardware.

The jazz and P bass are very punchy. The PJ not as much, but sounds good.

My favorite is the P bass because it's about a pound lighter than the other two basses.
But, they are all great basses.

Need some help. My warmoth body should be ready in about a month now.

Chambered dinky j, alder body (paid for lighter wood pickings) candy tangerine paint. JJ pickup with rear route, side jack, and single battery.
Installing Sadowsky single coil and preamp on this bad boy.

I was going to put a rosewood fender board on but I just sold it and was thinking about getting a warmoth neck instead.

Need help on what to get.

Background: my basses now, Sadowsky will lee 5 ash/maple, fender p alder/rosewood, Warwick dirty blonde 5. Play through my Mesa scout or ampeg micro vr.

I was going to go for a more traditional jazz bass with the fender neck but I figured I might as well go all warmoth and go something different.

I love wenge necks but I'm also curious about these new roasted maple necks.
I'm wondering if graphite rods are a must? Does it make that much of a huge difference?
Also should I go bound and blocked and go for a funky vintage vibe??
Budget is no issue. I'm gonna keep this bass for a good long time so I wanna make sure I do it right.

Just curious on warmoth veteran thoughts.

For a neck wood, wenge is a great choice, as is bubinga. Tonally the two are similar, but the feel is quite different. Bubinga (to me) feels smoother due to its tighter grain and density. You can pair it with a wenge fingerboard, or go for something more exotic like ziricote, which would look great with the body finish that you've chosen. Both can be played raw, or rubbed with a small amount of natural lemon oil to give the wood a modest shine.

Sometimes, Warmoth has some all-ebony bass necks in their Showcase. BN6322 is a great example of this. These feel amazing (but heavy) and you're going to get bright, clear and snappy tone, even more so than with a wenge or bubinga neck. The downside of ebony is of course the weight.

So I was curious how long (on average) you all have waited for a custom body that just needed paint? Just a standard finish, nothing fancy. I'm in the 6th week now on mine... I know their lead time says 8-10 weeks, I just wanted to know how accurate that actually is.

I ordered mine first week of October. Just got an email with my tracking number!! Should be here by next Monday according to ups.

Only quesition now is, what were your shipped weight?
Ups has it labeled as 6.8lbs. This includes body, pickguard, battery box, and string furelles.
I paid for a chambered body painted candy orange. And I also paid a premium for them to pick out the lightest alder possible.
What should I expect? I'm aiming for low 4lbs high 3lbs if that's even possible. (Chambered dinky J)

If it turns out to be closer to 5lbs or even more do I have the right to return it? I spent over $700 on this body and I really hope it comes out to my expectations. Now the wait.

Do they have anything listed on their site regarding custom returns? For something like that I would possibly expect a re-stocking fee but I haven't seen their return requirements. I do know I was allowed to return the first neck I bought within 10 days as long as it was in the condition as I received it. That was a finished neck though..

odd perhaps it's a conspiracy ..
I am looking forward to seeing some of these come in , I placed my custom order 10/22 so I'm thinking it may squeak in just before the new year .. we'll see . I do have the neck already waiting . Custom order Lowe 32" conversion

I just got mine too... you guys lucked out.. my package was listed at 7.6 lbs.

Hopefully that's 2.6 lbs of packaging, but I doubt it. We'll see when it gets here!

Mine was Alder, 5 string Deluxe J, Sonic Blue finish. I knew I should've ordered the "pay us $40 and we'll dig through the lumber pile for a light piece" option. I was hoping to keep everything at 10.5 lbs max.

Lead paint maybe? :nailbiting:

Just kidding....
