Warmoth Owners Club!!

And she's home!! So I was trying to recreate a '97 American Standard Jazz V I bought new that year. That bass was stolen a couple of years ago and I used that bass as the inspiration for this. Same body, neck and fretboard woods. I went more modern with the Nordy NJ5F's and Hipshot hardware. A little heavier than I prefer, 10.8 lbs, but I can live with it. And I know the rules, obligatory cell pics!

Just killer....

Thanks guys! I'm super stoked. I was very impressed with the turnaround time myself! It was hands on from the beginning and he did a great job. He did a killer finish on the back of the neck too. It feels like ice... very fast! He's a TB'er as well, but I'm not sure if he wants me to put him on blast here, LOL! It sounds great. The Nordy's have an edge to them that will definitely not get lost in the mix. The neck profile is slimmer than Warmoth's necks I've owned in the past- then again that was like 13 years ago. Me likey.

The way the abalone matches the blue is outstanding!! Nice job with your choices.

Thanks! It was a showcase neck with perloid blocks, they look great. :) Now that you mention it, Abalone blocks would be INSANE with that body color!! Just thinking about that made my wallet run and hide in the other room....

I would guess this slays the original bass you had in every way .

Time will tell! That Fender was my baby. I had it for 15 years before some knucklehead broke into our house and cleaned us out. 10 albums, multiple tours.... it was a special one, it had THE Fender tone. Every engineer I worked with asked me to only bring that bass..... I've been chasing that tone since the burglary. My "white whale" I guess... LOL.

So far so good though! I can't complain, the woods are very high quality and so are the parts. It does feel like "home" to me.

I thought I would chime in here. I've been holding on to a Warmoth Neck for about 8 years, finally picked up a Warmoth body for it 2 years ago, and have been hacking away at it slowly but surely since then. Details: Maple/Maple Deluxe 5 neck with reverse headstock, Poplar Jazz V body, Schaller Light tuners, BadAss V bridge, Lindy Fralin Pups, Emerson Custom pre-wired Jazz control plate, Graph Tech nut, Reranch seafoam green, and a full cavity shielding. Just got it back from my tech last night and it plays like a dream. Just waiting for the neck to settle and this thing is going to be blazing.

Gotta say I'm not happy with dealing with Warmoth. I placed an order over the weekend and followed up with an email asking about a customization that it turned out they couldn't do. Therefore I cancelled the order. With massive loads of BS as an explanation they kept 25% of the order amount even though a single business day had not transpired between the order and the cancellation. I'm used to dealing with good faith and people who want to make things right. Warmoth isn't that kind of company.

Please share the details of your experience.

What did you order and what sort of customization were you asking for?

You ordered on the weekend and emailed when to change the order? Did you cancel the order immediately after being denied the customization?

Did you ever speak directly to someone on the phone?

What reasons did they give for holding back 25%?

Just out of curiosity- what did you order that was so custom that they were prompted to keep 25% without even starting the build? From my experience they will allow up to 10 days for a return as long as the item is in "new" condition. Even on a custom painted body.

Warmoth claims to charge 25% for cancelling a customer order, but you can return an order you're not happy with for full money back. Probably could have just recieved the item, sent it back within the return period, and only been out shipping.

If it was a custom order they couldn't do, maybe you're credit card company might have some leverage.

I stand corrected. I was able to return an item but I did not cancel an order. Thanks for posting that.
