I stand corrected. I was able to return an item but I did not cancel an order. Thanks for posting that.

I am well aware that I could have let them build it and then return it, but that would be the d-nozzle way to do it. Turns out they d-nozzled me instead. The item is a bass body and the customization was for a Jazz deluxe compatible neck pocket. Now they are keeping over $100 of my money justified by the fact that "orders change through a lot of hands" when they are placed.

Yikes! Yeah, I'd say you got that bad end of that one. That seems a little extreme for a same-day cancellation.

If they couldn't do the customization you ordered, it seems odd that they would keep the money. Have you talked to a manager there, or if needed, your credit card company?

Hey what's up Doug! Blast I will! The bass came out great. I think we hit it out of the ballpark. Thanks for your help with the details- it made a huge difference. In regards to the shielding the bass is dead quiet. Very nice for a passive bass! The Nordy's really cut- I used it with a full band last night. Very clear in the lowest registers, something that Fender of mine was missing somewhat. I have to compliment you again on the neck. The finish is perfect.

The difference between a deluxe and a standard is more than the size of the neck pocket. Sure, you can take a standard body and route it for a deluxe neck but it would still be a mismatch. J & P Deluxe basses are clearly listed as incompatible on their site. So you made the mistake by ordering an incompatible body and they stuck to their guns on their written cancellation policy. Who knows how far along your order was by the time you cancelled? It may very well have cost them time and resources.

The situation does suck, I would be upset too. It may have been nice for them to waive the fee, but it's not wrong that they didn't.

The timing was such that I am positive they charged the fee simply because they can and not due to any material loss. They are technically in the right. The fact that they chose to enforce their policy to the letter is a valuable if costly lesson. My future business will be directed elsewhere.

It is VVT although I need to re-wire the pickups because the last owner didn't get the wiring quite right. No big deal. I might switch out the pickups to EMG solder less so I can bounce between flavors without breaking out the solder gun.

If anybody cares, Warmoth does offer custom control cavity plates for $12 (the price of trem covers). They can do every material their pickguards come in.

Just wanted to share that I picked up a Warmoth Jazz in a trade earlier in the year. Trans Orange Ash body, the neck has Pau Ferro board. When the guy offered it up, I wasn't really interested. Once I played it, I couldn't put it down! This thing plays amazing! Haven't gigged it yet, but I can't wait to. Really great Bass indeed.

No they do not unless Warmoth changed something recently. Use whatever ferrules they have in stock.

Waited on this G5 body to hit the clearance bin. Weighs in the low 8's. Lively resonant alder body. Nordstrand, Hipshot. 22 fret Deluxe. 18mm Super playable.

Man, now I want to build another short scale. I've got a G4 single cutaway body and the tummy cut is not deep enough on the neck side. Makes it uncomfortable to sit with, as it pokes into my ribs.

Anyone try out the other short scale bodies?

Just realized I never posted this one... and still need to take some better photos.

Both of my Warmoth basses... left one is a Warmoth Precision with EMG GZR P pickup and a black Gotoh bridge. The finish is black cherry metallic. The right one is a Warmoth P/J with Jazz neck, EMG GZR P/J pickups and black Gotoh bridge. I finished the build in August. I still need to find some knobs that look better for it.
