The control plate is parallel with the strings, it looks to me. The grain of the body is just a little off from that line.

If you want it to look more in line with itself, put some black strings on it. Your eye will automatically associate the strings and control plate, plus it will just look cool.

Sharp looking bass, by the way.

Looking through all of my postings in this thread (about 5), I’ve never actually posted any of my Warmoth stuff, even though I only own a couple of Roasted Maple necks.

The first one I got in Nov 2018, a Standard Jazz V fretless with unlined ebony board mounted to a Squier Body.

The 2nd one is a fretted Roasted Maple/Roasted Maple mounted to my Squier VM Jazz V body (soft maple), 6150 frets. I got this one the last day of January 2022.

I still have a full build in the planning stage, basically a 5-string MM type bass (like a 5-string version of the Flea Active Jazz) using a Duncan SMB5-D ceramic pickup. Electronics-wise I will use an ObsidianWire Jazz board and wire each coil in the VVT configuration, and also use a 2-band preamp with A/P switch.

I don't know if this has ever been posted in this thread, but I found or rediscovered a good option for those interested in Warmoth Warhead medium or short scale necks that want an option for cloverleaf tuners that use Warmoth standard holes including the location peg holes. The Warmoth suggested Schaller tuners aren't available normally in cloverleaf but the Fender Schaller American Deluxe tuners have the same body and peg size and fit the Warmoth shorter Warhead necks perfectly. They are essentially the same tuners. I have a set on a new to me 32" Jazz build right now. As long as you don't mind a Fender 'F' being stamped on the back of the tuner these are a great option.

I'll try to post a pic or two later of the bass. I bought the loaded Warmoth SS Jazz body here on Talkbass, changed the wiring as it wasn't VVT and bought a new roasted maple neck and a few other parts. Pickups are Dimarzio Area Js if I'm remembering correctly.

Hello Warmoth fandom!
My trusted bass neck (Blade) has been unfortunately ruined ... It warped beyond horizon, so now I need new neck and while at it, planning to order silver flake dinky J body for it (see plan details in a photo below).
Since all hardware and electronics I already got (it will be a transplant) only body+neck I would need to spend on .
Do you dig it? Some pics of you're silver - flake'd Warmoth basses would be more than welcome :=)

I had a Warmoth neck from a previous project laying around so I pieced together this ‘54 P bass. The neck is a maple Warmoth Tele, J nut width, Slim taper contour with a satin finish. The tuners are Hipshot ultralight mini clovers (I mistakenly bought a mini clover d tuner for a different project so I just finished the set for this one).

The body is a used poplar Rosser body I bought used from eBay that already had a brand new SD quarter pound single coil in it (I basically got the body and pickup for the price of the pickup). I rattle canned the body but I did a poor prep job (laziness) and it looks bad close up but fine from a few feet away. The controls and plate were a pre wired set I bought from Amazon. The bridge and other hardware were from my parts drawer. The poplar is very light and shows a lot of wear and tear from the previous owner. All assembled the bass weighs under 7.5 lbs.

I decided to try something different and put Fender flats (while I’ve played basses with flats be never put them on my own basses before) on it. They’re kinda fun and have their place and go pretty well with the SD pickup. I do have a question, do flats take awhile to stretch and break in? I’ve had them on for 2-3 days now and they still require a lot of tweak tuning. Every time I pick the bass up it’s out of tune. I don’t think the Hipshots are the problem. Is this normal for flats?

There is a break in period for flatwound strings - dependent on the tension it could be a few days to a few weeks. My experience has been the higher the tension the longer the period.

Too far away (I'm from Croatia, Europe..) to send cheap neck with maxed out truss rod to be repaired. I know it is doable but too much work and in this case shipping costs there and back. It needs new nut, probably new trussrod + routing for graphite bars for this not to happen again, then, fretboard would probably get replaced, frets.... you get the point
ALSO, now I got reason for GASing you see
Plan with Blade is to shim the neck a bit to make it playable again and to install back it's old hardware & electronics. I will sell it very cheaply as such (and I wont hide the fact of maxed truss rod).

I thought I'd post a few pictures of my installing a pair of Nordstrand Big J Blades Warm and Wooly flavor into my Warmoth Ash Jazz bass. All nicely sheilded with a Series/ Parallel push pull pot in a simple passive design.

I'm going to be rejoining the club shortly as I just picked up a used ebony-on-maple 32" neck from the Classifieds.

I briefly had a Squier Jaguar H (32" scale) and really loved the feel. I've got basses in multiple scales (Dingwall Super P5 35-32", OLP MM5 Fretless 34", Squier Bronco 30", Squier Mini P 28"), so it's time to add a 32" scale back into the fold.

I'm eyeballing a Z bass body that's in the Warmoth showcase, but it's PJ and I kind of want something with soapbars. There's a G body unrouted, but I know it's taking them considerably longer than pre-pandemic times to process any modifications to their Showcase offerings. I can be patient, but I really just want something now.
