Warmoth Owners Club!!

Just ordered a dinky P body, pearl white, only 2.2 lbs (which is why I grabbed it) and a roasted maple neck with Warmoth tiltback headstock. Given the necks usually run about a pound and a half, I have to think neck and body will be under 4 pounds so I may end up with a 7 to 7 1/2 pound P bass :D
Looking to put EMG Geezer pickup in and hipshot ultralight tuners. Gotoh 201 bridge I have, with La Bella deep talkin’ flats. :thumbsup:

I don't know of any tuners that use two stubs for mounting besides the Schallers.

Are all of the screws on the Schallers tightened properly? They make good hardware, so I'm surprised they don't hold tune well.

How many times do the strings wind around the tuner post? 2 to 3 is best, if the string starts to overlap itself you can experience issues with tuning stability as the string slips around over/under itself.

Interesting I was originally just going to put in SD quarter pounder‘s but it seems the geezers are either loved or not liked that all, and not much in between, and I thought I could try them and return them if they don’t float my boat as they are easy in/out no solder installs?
I haven’t made a final decision yet and you can only get so much from listening to examples online.

Schaller are first rate tuners/hardware and always have been. Been using them forever as first choice so if you have a problem with them it is very unusual. Also can't imagine them providing a bad set.
Check you're using them properly.
In 50 years of playing I have never had an issue with anything Schaller.

I've got a set of EMG Geezer PJ to go in my medium scale Warmoth build and I bought them based on all the good reviews I read here on TB.

You're right, though, they're solderless. Try them out and if you don't like them, return/sell/trade them for something else. You can always get a solderless wiring harness for trying out other pickups.

Fender makes a pair, but I dont know if they are spaced the same. Im sure some like them, but I dont care for the plastic body and y-keys. Tuning is ok in terms of pitch but they just dont feel great. The A string hits a point where it seems like gear is binding up a little.

Swamp Ash w/Quilted Maple top and a Clear Satin finish. Its getting hitched to a Roasted Maple/Rosewood Warmoth neck, all black hardware and Active EMG pickups.

I’ve got a dinky p bass body coming in with a rear route cavity and I’m wondering will I need the long 3/4” pot shafts (as opposed to the standard 1/4”) since the top wood is likely a bit thicker than a typical pick guard? Figured you are in the same situation with yours with a rear cavity and hoping you may know?

I just ordered some directly from Hipshot but for some reason the have been stuck in Memphis for the last 8 days. I called Hipshot and they said they would look into it. That was 2 days ago, haven’t heard anything yet, but I am in no rush as I won’t have the body and neck from Warmoth until late September or early October most likely.

I have a Dinky P Bass body that I grabbed, on 2.2 lbs I think, I will weigh and confirm it when I get it, in pearl white. And a roasted maple neck, jazz neck 1 1/2” at the nut, Warmoth tiltback. Should all result in a nice light p bass under 7.5 lbs I suspect.
And like I’ve posted earlier I was looking into getting GZR pickups but now I’m not sure if I will need a longer 3/4” pole on the pots since I’m going through the wood top instead of a pick guard, which is thinner and I’m not sure that the GZR pickups can come with that option so I may have to source out the components separately. I have contacted EMG but I’ve not heard back from them.
I just really like that for once I could assemble quickly and simply without getting out the soldering stuff lol
And I wanted to try the EMGs :thumbsup:

A wood top is approximately the same thickness as a pickguard unless you're talking about a carved top body like a Les Paul.
