Sick! A dinky P with 2x2 headstock....
My future build that I’m planning, some of you might remember, most of you not…is going to be a sort of like a 5-string version of the Fender Flea Active Jazz.
I was originally on the fence with either a Natural Ash or a blue burst finish, but since this will be (most likely) the last bass I’ll build and/or buy, I’m wondering if I should go bananas on the finish.
I absolutely love the PRS Grainger basses, so I but this together in my Warmoth cart…
Blue Dye with natural edge binding, flamed maple top on mahogany.
When I saw the mock-up, my eyes almost fell out.
But I’m on the fence with the mahogany body, or if I should stick with Ash. They’re the same price. [leaning more toward mahogany]
It will be attached to a Roasted Flame Maple neck.

Just throwing it out there in case one of you still owns this bass. I wish I never sold it. I think it was just a generic old neck of sorts, but if I ever had a chance to buy it back, I would.
Hi all, over the years I have played all kinds of basses and have gone deep into GAS. Owned over 100 different instruments. About 5 or so years ago, I decided to build my first Warmoth. That led me to sell all of my name-brand basses except one Spector and went on a hardcore building binge. I've since built 10 total Warmoths (7 bass and 3 guitars). Each was built for different tonal options and several were actually build for people who funded them. One of my all-time favorite hobbies. Warmoth's quality is top notch and each of my basses is amazing. I just recorded a song using my Big Man P. It has Nordstrand P and Big Man pickups and Nordstrand 3-band preamp. The Wenge neck is sexy AF and the growl is unique to this bass. Love it.
I just published a new song and video using this bass if you want to check it out. The song is about the de-extinction of the Woolly Mammoth. The video actually made it to the CEO of Colossal Biosciences, the company leading the science and project behind de-extinction. He loved it, even with the ending not necessarily being a happy ending. LOL

That's a great idea.... I will forever refer to this one as the Wolly Mammoth bass. 
This is my latest project. Roasted maple 32” scale Warhead neck from the classifieds here, roasted ash with bubinga top body from the Warmoth Showcase (4lb 5oz).

Ordered a set of Nordstrand Zen Blades and my usual Dingwall pickup selector for this build.
Finishing the body in multiple coats of Howard Feed n Wax. I just put on the first coat and it smells so nice in here… Toasty, roasty, and citrus.
Oh no, she’s been chonkin’ around with me since she was a kitten, about 8 years now. Named her Leland after my idol Mr. Sklar (before the vet told me she and her siblings are all ladies).Was the cat part of the deal ?
Mine’s done. I bought a body and neck someone was selling for a good price and sourced the rest of the parts. Between the barts and the chrome flats, it’s dead quiet and very smooth.

Finally got this thing together.
Excuse the poor lighting, it’s after 10pm.
The Zen Blades sound good. They’re dead quiet but just slightly aggressive. Not super bright, even with a no-load tone pot, since they’re wired in series. I’m going to let it live like this for a bit before I possible try it with the pickups each in parallel.
It balances perfectly and the weight is just right—not so light that it feels odd but by no means heavy.
I’ve got to find the right strings for it. These are regular scale Daddario balanced tension and the E just doesn’t sound great.

When I used D'Addario strings (nickel rounds), I sometimes had a problem with the E string not lasting as long or sounding as bright as the other strings. I tried matching a stainless steel round E string to nickel ADG strings, and it worked surprisingly well.
Are they still so back logged they aren't doing any variations to their standard finishes or custom colors?
I've never had issues before. It's on both my Warmoth 32" builds with these D'addario strings. The ADG sound great but the E sounds a little inharmonic above the 5th fret. Oddly, my shorter scale basses with other strings don't have that problem.
